Get that red out of there
I think it was Friedman who said to expect this in yesterday's 30. Makes sense from the NHL's perspective - suspend 20 games and make the ref's union happy, fully expecting Wideman to appeal and leave it up to the arbitrator. It's win-win for them.
I think the poison dwarf's done a lot of good things. And for once in his life. Gary Rattmen is called a genius
I think the poison dwarf's done a lot of good things.
He's just done many, many more awful things.
I think they'd still like a chance at a Cup.
I don't like going back on my predictions (except that one about NJ contending for the playoffs which I retracted after dragon laughed at me and now wish I hadn't lol), and they're still only 2 pts back albeit a few games ahead. Both SJ and Anaheim have gotten hot at points this season then cooled and they're both hot right now but both have multiple games remaining vs. the Canucks (the Sharks have all 5) and both are likely to do something stupid at the deadline so I still like Van's chances.
True, but at least they're in play. A referee is off limits. Period.Kent Wilson @Kent_Wilson
If Wideman wanted a lighter sentence, maybe he should have hit another player from behind on purpose.
It's funny because it's true.
No. You and I argued with someone for a page about that with @sabresfaninthesouth I think, but he was saying they'd contend for the playoffs IIRC.Were you one of the ones talking up Buffalo as a contender this year? I can't remember , I know there were a few people here on that train

Even that was a stretch, though.

Hmm, there seems to be a little black rubber object on the ice in the immediate vicinity of where this incident occurred...
They're definitely among the surprises of the season.Ah OK, that's what I thought.
I missed on Carolina because I simply don't watch them enough and underestimated how much an improvement in systems could do for them (and probably the likelihood of such an improvement happening in the first place).

There was a confluence of 3 different events happening on the Muzzin hit - the play was shifting along the boards, the referee was blindly skating away from the movement in play and Muzzin was coming into the play at full speed.Yes, although I think you can argue that Muzzin sees the ref and doesn't alter his path to the little black rubber object and makes contact with the official. Wideman signals to the bench for a line change and does try to alter his path when he sees the ref at the last moment.
Listen, the bottom line is that social media blew up and Colin Campbell capitulated to the hue and outcry. I knew after all this that Wideman would be suspended, but 20 games in my opinion is far too severe.
He earned a new fan when he mic-dropped Bettman.I like the above post by BBB for confluence and another Nenshi mention![]()
