I like your beard.
I would keep both Weber and Jones, but I would dangle Roman Josi and see if Chia would bite.
Really? Because of those three mentioned, I'd like Josi the best. Combo of abilities and salary there.

I mean, I wouldn't blame them for that. Some of the other guys who've left the team after doing well playing alongside JT (Parenteau, Moulson, Vanek) haven't exactly lived up to their next contracts, after all. They want to keep Nielsen. For some reason they're reluctant to give Okposo what he wants. Apparently it has something to do with his injury history.
I've always assumed it'll either be a 1-for-1 deal for a similarly-skilled d-man made by a GM doing Garth a favour, or a big ass game-changer. Hopefully the latter. There are all kinds of rumors about Hamonic going here, their & everywhere. Apparently there were a lot of scouts at the last Bridgeport Sountigers game. With players like Strome, Pulock, Mayfield & others in the lineup it could be a bigger deal.

But now what? More rebuilding? When's the part where they're done rebuilding and actually competing? How many more prime years of JT are gonna get flushed?

Those 2 guys are rookies. Like I said, it's more re-building. When does the re-building end? It's been the same story with the Isles for 4 years. If you just keep playing mediocre and gathering picks and do nothing with them, you just allow the earlier guys you picked's contracts to expire then you're stuck in more rebuilding. Where's the next step? Where's the balls to make a move to get the team to the next level?Hamonic wanting out could be a game changer depending on what they get in return. The prospect pool is flush. Pulock is very close to being ready. I doubt many would be surprised if Barzal makes the team next year. So there's two spots right their. Strome has all the tools. I don't know what the problem is. That's three spots. How many spots do you think will be available on the Isles roster after this season? Heck Pelech hasn't seemed out of place. It will come down to the players finding chemistry. That's important for every team.

I don't doubt that Garth has tried to move prospects/picks for established players but at some point he's either gotta come through or they need to find someone who can. John Tavares is 25 years old; he should have more than 13 playoff games to his name by now.
If he's not gonna trade away his top prospects, he might as well trade Tavares because there's literally nobody on the team even near his level. I don't know how the team gets better when superstars don't go to UFA and you aren't willing to meet pricing for superstars on the trade market. Yeah, sure, sometimes teams get lucky and a prospect contributes immediately and it's awesome but more common is it takes years for them to come around. He tried with the Vanek deal & it failed miserably. The Isles offered Vanek 7 years 50M & he turned them down. It isn't from lack of trying on Garth's part. UFA's haven't been knocking down the Isles door's either. Garth made a point in that trade that he wasn't going to trade away his top prospects in a deal. Like I said the Hamonic situation could be a game changer for this season. We'll know more after Travis is dealt.
Friedman says about as much in today's 30.As far as Hamonic is concerned, why would any GM make a lateral move (or in some cases move a better player) to help out Garth Snow? Heck, I don't blame Garth Snow for asking for these types of players, but I think it will likely have to be a package deal (or potentially a 3-team deal) before this trade gets done.

Not saying they should go out and trade every young player but prospects are just that - prospects. You can lose a lot more by waiting around for them to develop than you can gain by using them to make good trades.

As fighting is a least being phased out, should PIMs still be a positive thing in fantasy hockey?

Honestly, I never understood why they were to begin with. In Fantasy Football, are there points for holdings? PIs? Personal fouls? No, because that's idiotic.
It sure seems stupid now.
I do not mind them being calculated, I just feel they should be a negative stat and whomever has the least should win that category. The way I see it is that it's just another parameter you need to consider, making it more difficult to build a team (fantasy speaking that is).
