I feel for the kid, but he has a job (a contract). He's already been paid by the Senators and he reneged in year one.

I've had members of my family become ill, and die(like we all likely have), but I was able to take five minutes and let my employer I wouldn't be coming to work for X amount of days.

As for the "didn't want to share it with the world". He wouldn't have been, he would have told his boss. Instead he went to the media. I guess he doesn't mind sharing it with the world after all.

And for the record he's not asking to go to Sweden to stay home with his brother. He's asking to go home to Sweden and play for a team that is about a 3 hour drive from his brother. A team that travels around Sweden, often up to 6-8 hours away from his brother.

I hope the guy's brother gets well and I hope Wikstrand gets his shit together. However, if I just hopped a flight to Ireland to be with a sick relative and told my boss NOTHING, then tweeted how certain employers were so much better than mine, then told a journalist the whole situation in an effort to gain pity points I doubt I'd get a grocery clerk comment. I wouldn't need one because I'd be fired and blackballed in my field, unlikely to get a job in my line of work. A suspension would be a godsend.

Kid needs to grow a pair and start dealing with real-life situations like an adult.

While I don't know what you do for a living so I can't speak to your situation personally, I sort of think that you are generally overstating this.

Congrats on the win. I agree their shooting % will definitely rise, but I thought the Pens looked awful.

I honestly barely watched the 3rd period and did laundry instead b/c the play in that game was so bad. It was fitting the game winning goal was a pass that just fell off Malkin's stick and the Caps only goal was some pinball BS. Lousy effort from the Caps (OV was dreadful). Lots of teachable moments for Barry Trotz in the film room there.

I suppose maybe I'm guilty of looking at that scoring play with black and gold glasses on, but IMHO that was a perfectly placed pass by Geno. Instead of wiring the pass over, where it likely wouldn't have been received by Phil, he feathered it over to him.

Agree on the sloppiness overall, though. Pittsburgh's powerplay is so bad it's to the point of being hard to believe. They can't buy a goal on the man advantage right now.

Sorry. I don't understand what you mean?

Do you mean would I be fired if i buggered off without telling anyone I was leaving or why? I might be able to wiggle my way out of that one depending on what was happening that first day/couple of days.

If I did that, then before offering my explanation, I tweeted Organization X is >>>>> my current employer? Shitcanned with extreme prejudice. And my boss is a truly nice person. My experience with my company would be worth nothing without a reference, which I most certainly wouldn't get. And I wouldn't deserve.

I might not end up working as a grocery clerk, (I already play in a beer league :suds:), because I've got a decent education and could find something further up the line. But another job within the specialization that I've built and I'm very grateful to get paid well for? Almost no chance.

Oh and for the record I read the article with the Swedish journalist and it seems like Wikstrand knows he fucked up and is showing some contrition, so I'd say there should be some kind of resolution here that could work for both sides.

Probably headed for that - both sides could've handled this better.

I'll just say that my anecdotal evidence is rather different. And this was not at some mom and pop organization, but an international investment bank.

But you're not wrong, it seems that he does have some growing up to do. It's not a good thing, but he's not alone among 21 year olds in that regard I don't think, and I do think that the circumstances here are more than just a little difficult. But I think it's a good thing that he has a 70+ year old man who thinks it's appropriate to publicly call him names and crack jokes when he does something wrong to set an example for him about what's expected from adults.

You might be right evolver, I wasn't paying close attention in the third. I thought it just got knocked off his stick or deflected or something... but that gif seems more purposeful.

This is all coming out of my memory which puts it through the Pittsburgh Sports Filter on replay once a memory has been stored. As an example, here is what I recall of the first goal the Pens scored... Bo Bennett shot the puck into Holtby's pads, he turned and slashed the defenseman in the face, he pulled a shiv and shanked Holtby in the gut, and then he stashed the rebound.

See what I mean? ;)

Also, in that gif replay, not a single Caps playing takes ONE stride the entire time. Standing or gliding every one of them. Batteries running out all over the place. Terrible.

Kessel and Malkin seem to be clicking, don't know what's up with Crosby but there is something wrong. You don't go from being the best player in the league 1 year and be like this the next.

It's all concussion related. It's got to be. I think the numbers would support that pre/post Jan 2011.

He didn't have the best 2014-15 season in the NHL, but he was still the answer to the question "Who is the best player in the NHL?" if you asked in 2014-15.
