Yes, the Canadian elections are upcoming soon, 18 days from now. I think it's going to be a CPC/Liberal minority with the other party being opposition and the NDP slipping to 3rd.

Well, as my dad says, if you don't vote, you don't have a right to complain. Vote early and vote often :D

I think the Conservatives have it wrapped up. Just a matter of majority or minority.

I'm pretty disappointed in the other two parties. They had a chance to actually present themselves as visionary a la Chretien in 93 or Harris in 95 but simply ran as "I'm not Harper". Gone are the days of the Red Book and the Common Sense Revolution; we're stuck with Harper until 2030 when he'll pass the torch on to Mike Babcock who wins easily thanks to having won 8 Stanley Cups in a row with the Leafs and sweeping the Ontario vote.

Two (sorry only two - not 10) notes from Jackets-ville.

1) Oleg Fucking Yevenko
Defenseman Oleg Yevenko signed to one-year contract

This guy wound up on a PTO with Lake Erie, was invited to Columbus and just got a two way deal. He is a 6' 7" 240lb defenseman who is surprisingly fast and hits with the force of a freight train. He also blocks a ton of shots, mainly because it's hard to miss him.

Here he is, age 19 in the USHL. Damn.

This year, he KO'd Hunter Warner of Minnesota and pummeled Cody Beach of STL as well.

God, I hope he's a call up and soon. Particularly when we play Pittsburgh. Or Lucic.

2) So the last forward spot seems to be coming down to Kerby Rychel and Jared Boll. And coach Richards is praising Boll for his hard work this offseason. Boll is on a one-way, so if he's demoted and clears waivers (he would) they have to pay him 1.7m to sit in Cleveland.

Fuck. We're gonna get stuck with the Orangutan.

The Isles choices were limited but what shortsightedness on the part of the owners of the Barclay's Center. Why make an arena that isn't suited for hockey? Especially when you knew there was a good chance a local team would be looking for a new home.

It's starting to feel like the BOG has been made aware that a few franchises might need these possible expansion sites as relocation destinations in the not-too-distant future.
