Barzal is making it tough for them. Also add Petrov to that list.

I think Petrov is a lock. He's 25. A 3rd round pick in 2008. They've been waiting for him for awhile.

Barzal has so much skill it's scary. Tavares, Strome & Barzal give the Isles a scary good trio going forward.

Like a lot of his insights, devoid of substance and just there to fill some air.

I don't get Barzal dropping as far as he did. He suffered a knee injury, came back, then tore it up down the stretch. A lot of media had him in the top ten.

At the very least, you'd think the Bruins with three straight picks would've used one on him rather than two wingers, but, meh.

Who's the one guy who really knows what's going on in the NHL in Canada? I ask this because there isn't anybody in the U.S. that I know of.
Bob Mckenzie and Elliot Friedman are the go-to's for me. I don't mind LeBrun and Chris Johnston is pretty good, too.

Mckenzie is the guy I pay attention to the most. I was happy to see him on some of the NBCSN broadcasts late last year. Now if they could just get rid of McGuire & Milbury their coverage would improve in a big way. Emrick needs to call the game instead of telling story after story as well.

Bob Mckenzie said teams were concerned about his size. He's 6 feet tall. I don't get it. Bob compared his skill to Nugent-Hopkins at the same age. Another thing that happened is Hanifan fell to Carolina, then Dallas took somebody else. I don't know what Boston was thinking. Bob was on the NBCSN broadcast of the draft. He & Button couldn't really say much about what was going on because the broadcast was focused on all the American players being drafted.

After Werenski went to Philly and the somewhat-given top 8 had been picked, I kept hoping the Leafs were going to swing a deal for one of the 9-20 picks and grab Barzal (even if it involved Kessel). Was greatly disappointed when they didn't.

Dreger was on the draft floor. He said Pittsburgh was trying to get a 1st round pick & they wanted a top 6 forward. This was before the Reinhart trade was announced. What was funny about it to me was there was talk about Edmonton acquiring Talbot from the Rangers. Edmonton had said they wouldn't trade a 1st round pick for a goalie, but when Bettman announced New York, I think most people expected it to be the Rangers.

BBB nailed it above, I would put LeBrun on par with Friedman. I also like Eric Duhatschek.

No Portzline? At least 23% of his tweets are based in some kind of fact!

i felt the same for the canucks

on why he dropped ... maybe the dreaded pre draft interview process claimed another victim ... Barzal is apparently a real goofball ... anithesis of captain serious :noidea:

Yeah you talked him up a lot during the season; half the reason I was even aware of him.

If that is the case I think GMs need to chill a bit. As long as he isn't sitting in the chair talking about the 8 ball he has waiting for him once he gets picked what do these guys expect out of 18 year olds?
