Better than the inside out Pens jersey he had been wearing.

Yeah, I think that prompted the Jackets to send him the box of stuff rather than wait for him to get here...

And Fuck Jeff Carter. He was so much of an ass that he has some of the locals all worried that Saad choosing to stay in Pitt and work out before camp opens is Carter all over again. "He must not want to be here, blah blah blah."

Kid's young, had a shorter offseason than 95% of the league, got traded for the first time and signed a big deal. If he needs to hang out with Mom and Dad and friends a little to get his head straight before diving in, I am fine with it.

If he gets it in some Pens players' head's that he's really good and in the division, even better. :thumb:

It's a brand new, state of the art practice facility with a bunch of pro players working out literally 10 minutes from his parents house. I wouldn't blame him if this becomes his offseason routine. Most guys go home and train, this just happens to be his home. I understand the paranoia I guess, but it's no different than guys practicing together in LA or across Canada. Honestly, with Gary Roberts being here, I wouldn't be surprised to see this place attract more guys in the coming years.

Jackets' Savard Signs 5-Year Extension

This will be fine. As long as the cap goes up an additional 20 mil by 16/17...

Prout, Murray, Jenner, and Connauton going RFA next summer. Johansen and Wennberg the next. Wennberg and Murray will get bridge deals, but Jenner should get paid and Johansen... yeah, he's gonna be rolling in it.

Only Bourque (3.3mil) this summer then Boll (1.7 fucking million) and Campbell (1.5) the next coming off.

At least this deal doesn't take effect until next year, so they still have 3.7 in wiggle room this season. I expect Calvert to be on the market. And Clarkson too, but no one would be dumb enough to take him. God, I hope he has just a good enough season to make someone want him.

Trading away Nathan Horton's $5.3 mil in cap relief in exchange for a slightly portable mo'ai may have been a mistake.

Compounded by giving Boll 1.7, taking on Bourque's 3.3, giving Calvert 2.2...

Maybe we'll get lucky and Clarkson will develop some degenerative condition in *his* back. Although, they'd probably just trade him for the next worst contract in the league.

Like I said, if he scores 20 by trade deadline maybe someone will want him. pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaase

Yeah I never wish injury on anybody, no matter the reason one may possibly wish for one upon a player, but that would be the best thing to happen to the Jackets since firing Armstrong.

Well the deadline for Brock Nelson to sign is 9 days away. Hey Brock ask your agent about Sean Bergenheim. Make sure he tells how things worked out for him after he didn't sign. I'll give you a hint, he sat out the season.

The difference is Bergenheim was fresh out of the AHL and had a grand total of 11 career NHL points prior to his holdout. Brock Nelson had the 5th most points on the Isles last season and his fancy stats are great, too. If they lose him for the season, it may wind up being even dumber than that time they traded a hockey player for Cal Clutterbuck.

Do you know why the Islanders traded Nino? Believe it or not, Clutterbuck was actually one of the better players for the Isles in the postseason. This is coming from somebody who's never been a big Clutterbuck fan.

Because the Isles thought guys like David Ullstrom and Marty Reasoner were more worthy of ice time than a promising youngster?

I don't care if he Bryan Bickell's himself into Isles fans' hearts, this will never be a good trade.

Wrong. They traded Nino due to the fact that he & his agent had a hissy fit because he didn't make the team after his rookie year. He wasn't ready for the NHL so they sent him to Bridgeport where he sulked for awhile. Nino & his agent voiced their displeasure to the media. Once he realized he wasn't going to be in the NHL his game improved. Nino & his agent burnt to many bridges. It was time to go.

Well, maybe the problem was the Isles played him for 55 games in his rookie year then thought he'd be cool with riding the bus again. That's some Ron Wilson School of Development shit right there.

Nino & his agent whined & cried about him not getting NHL money his second year. Nino acted like an immature spoiled brat. The Isles didn't get equal value. They didn't expect to. The Blackhawks & Bruins didn't get equal value for Leddy & Boychuk. It happens.

Very, very different situations. The Isles didn't have to get rid of Nino, they just played their hand terribly.

Imagine being him, playing your entire rookie season in the show and then being told, despite the fact the team didn't go out and get a hell of a lot better in your position in the intervening time, that you're going to be sent to the farm. You're telling me you wouldn't be pissed?

Doesn't matter that he pretty much sucked in his rookie year, it's mishandling on the part of the Isles and their fuckup doesn't excuse a bad trade in an era where promising youngsters are worth more than gold.

/They kind of made up for it by dumping Reinhart on Edmonton for a 1st and a 2nd.

Nino wasn't ready for the NHL his rookie year & it showed. If he had earned a spot during training camp I get it. However, that wasn't the case. Nino & his agent basically whined & cried his way out of the Islanders organization. By the time they were done his value had dropped big time. Yeah they could have kept him & put him in the minors for another season, but Nino had become a problem & the organization didn't want his attitude around. I have no complaints. The Isles have a good team & one of the best prospect pools in the league.
