another problem in atlanta is the bandwagon nature of a town filled with transients....perhaps if the flames or thrashers had been even a little bit successful on the ice they would have garnered some support (ie the knights of the ihl). Plus if you liked hockey and moved to atlanta you probably already have a loyalty to a team and no way you want to go downtown to watch a bad product you could care less about. i think the gladiators draw alright in the suburbs and it is also a reason the braves cant get out of downtown soon enough too.

All true. ATL is just a bit of an odd city for all pro sports. You probably identified a big part of the problem, so much of the population are move-ins, and already have allegiances.

Speaking of stale piss, I guess there is a paint out now that is piss proof, as in if you take a leak on it it will splash it right back at you.

U must have got the real real good (or bad) drugs on your trip

Dorsett has wheels and used them effectively this season

And he has 25 points this season

Boll has 28 points ... TOTAL SINCE 2010-11

I remember thinking Dorsett was something other than a complete waste of a roster spot. That feelings lasts about a year.

YAH BGDave ... TAKE YOUR DAMN SHIVVING ON ATL TRANSIT LIKE A PRO GAWD DAMMIT!!!!

Bandwagoners and transients. Yeah, no wonder it never worked. LET'S GO VEGAS!

All true. ATL is just a bit of an odd city for all pro sports. You probably identified a big part of the problem, so much of the population are move-ins, and already have allegiances.

Tampa, Florida, Phoenix and LA all also had a lot of move ins. It took LA 15 years and Wayne Gretzky to bring it around. The Arena should fill with hockey fans even if they have other allegiances. But in Florida and Phoenix it didn't happen.

Tampa won a cup and have an exciting team this year. But I just got back from a week there and didn't see one Lightning shirt or hat. I did, however, get into a (friendly) smack talk fest with a Pens fan in line for ice cream on Clearwater Beach.

Columbus had a ton of hockey fans before the Jackets. Hawks, Wings and Pens fans pretty much kept the franchise alive the first ten years. Now, people who grew up fans of those teams here are still going to games in their old teams' gear when they are in town, and they go back as Jacket fans the other games.

You need hockey fans to succeed. Just putting a hockey team there doesn't automatically do it. If the locals don't love the game and just like to gawk at a spectacle, there will be failure every time. As was said, if you love the game, you put up with a lot to get to it.

Hell, I grew up watching games in the Baltimore Civic Center and the old Hersheypark arena. Two of the worst arenas ever built.

i get a huge kick out of how quiet and decent the kings twitter account is being on the verge of being eliminated. I bet any amount of cash that if they make it (and I think they will) he will fucking explode into douchebag terriorty in 1 second

Why does everyone keep thinking the Kings are going to make it? They have played with no sense of urgency and they have taken everything for granted - why would the Flames fall off now after playing so well and working so hard for this long? Same with the Jets too - the Kings don't deserve it at this point

after what they have done the last 3 years. I believe fully and until they are golfing I think they will still win the cup too. they scare the hell out of me if they make it in

So um...... Sorry about that.....

Kings account went out of his way to congratulate the flames lol. Fraking douchebag....

It's made from Flubber. The piss splashes back at you at 10x the force.

Pass the crown Brett Hull, Aaron Ward is the new smartest man in hockey.

Ward's playoff predictions come true - Video - TSN

reluctantly putting this here, but Lucky Pierre went on Vancouver radio in the preseason and said Vancouver and Calgary were both sleepers and hinted the Kings wouldnt make the playoffs ... he reminded everyone of this prediction today when he was on the air :L

but seriously though ... Lucky Pierre was biased on the pens gm position ... he and Shero are tongue bath partners and if Shero was going to get fired there was only 1 suitable gm choice for the Pens in Pierres mind ...

Pierre!

Is it just me or are the playoffs wide open this year? Really can't pick a favourite to win the Cup.

Wide open if you aren't the Pens, Bruins, Isles, or Red Wings.

Beating a dead horse but, no way Kovy could've played out his contract right? Somebody playing into their early 40s? Ridiculous! Eff you NHL.
