Roussel gets two games for a cross-check on Adam McQuaid. This guy has quickly climbed the charts to be one of my most hated guys in the league.

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Dallas Stars forward Antoine Roussel was suspended two games by the NHL on Thursday for a cross-checking incident.

Roussel was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct for his cross-check of Boston defenceman Adam McQuaid in the first period of Tuesday's game.

Under terms of the collective bargaining agreement, Roussel will forfeit $21,505.38 of salary. The money will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Pretty sure he's been suspended/fined/investigated about three or four times this year...

Espn did a nice 30 for 30 documentary on the Soviet teams & how hockey began their. Tretiak said he had no idea he'd been drafted by Montreal & when he found out he would have liked to come over. When he was told before the 1984 Olympics it wasn't happening he decided to retire after the Olympic games.

It was sad that just before the 1972 Summit Series the Soviets fired their longtime coach because he refused to play to a tie against the Czechs. The government felt they needed to give the Czechs a goodwill gesture. The coach refused.

That 30 for 30 was fannnnntastic stuff. Just great.

I probably don't have to say this, but I will.

Bernie Parent made me want to try goalie.

Vlad Tretiak inspired me to focus on the artistry and athleticism of the position. He is the primary reason I am/was a goalie. He is also, and always will be, the greatest one who ever lived.

No one ever says it because Canada won in the end, but Dryden played like shit in that series. Tony O was a little better, but Tretiak outplaying Dryden in games where Canada otherwise outplayed the USSR was a big part of how they ended up in the hole they did.

Agreed. I thought Esposito should have gotten the Game 8 start for sure. At the time I was 100% behind that feeling as I had not yet embraced Montreal and was a huge Blackhawks fan, Bobby Hull was THE MAN when I was first watching around 1961 or so.

And while I never watched them (categorically against pros in the Limpics), in 2010 Limpics in Vancouver, they would have won with Brodeur in net but the hometown boy got the nod.

Hockey players rule. Note from Nationwide today

UPDATE (11:00 AM): Players in the dressing room were wearing baseball caps to commemorate Scott Hartnell's 1000th game, which took place on Monday. Hartnell said the hats, which feature the number "43" on the front colored in with the Blue Jackets logo, were given out by teammate Nick Foligno.

"He's my best friend on the team so far," said Hartnell of Foligno. "He's made the transition so easy. Everyone loves him, and he has a big heart."

Hartnell took care of his teammates as well with a custom-made bottle of wine, given to each player who played on Monday as a thank you for their part in his milestone.

Sabres sure had a high opinion of a guy who had one, maybe two good seasons in 6 years and is making pretty steep money for another 4 years. Friedman just said they wanted Toffoli and/or Pearson from LA.

There's an update in that article that it was OR not AND as originally reported.

No wonder Detroit turned that deal down. Mantha and Larkin are their 2 best prospects.
