What ever happened to Cheechoo? Did he retire, or can he just not crack an NHL lineup anymore?

At least his demise was gradual. He had a couple years when he was useful after the Richard, then he got slowly bad.

He had one good year after Richard - the year after - and then became a 30 point or less player. Still mind-boggling.

He's in Croatia playing for the KHL team there.

Looks like he slid over the Minsk and is having a really good year this year. 16 goals and 36 points in 32 games. Looks like he's healthy again, too, which I know was a big problem late in his NHL career.

I wonder if he'll resurface with an NHL team if he stays healthy and productive with Minsk this year.

Man, what a blow to the Jets. Trouba was playing some great hockey for Winnipeg.

Trouba being out is bad news for the Jets for sure. Be interesting to see how the team plays without him.

We'll see how long it last but could Russia's terrible economy be good for the NHL?

theScore

You have to assume more teams will fold and at least some of these guys have to be NHL caliber right?

Very few. Brendan Bochenski, last seen scoring 13 points in 28 games with the Lightning in 2009-10, and Nigel Dawes, last seen scoring 0 points in 4 games with the Habs that same season, were the top North American point scorers in the K last season, 4th and 5th overall.

Who could have guessed that paying out millions of dollars in salaries and drawing less than junior franchises in Canada would not be sustainable for the KHL?

Ah Jerry D'amigo. I had such high hopes for thee.

Even if he played to 100% of his potential, he was never going to get into the NHL for the Jackets. Too many like him in the system.

Maybe he'll get his shot in the Sabres organization. He looked decent at camp.

I don't know anything about Luke Adam, but the last guy we picked up from Buffalo has turned out pretty good (Tropp).

Adam is going to be your career AHL guy who gets called up occasionally when the injuries strike. He'll be a decent fill-in, but won't do a whole lot for you.

He had a 10/10/20 season for Buffalo a few years back but hasn't really been able to crack the lineup with any regularity since. Not sure of the reasons specifically, but if someone can't get in on this team, and they're not being held out specifically for development reasons (e.g., Reinhart, Grigorenko), that's pretty telling, IMO.
