Edmonton and Washington are both gambling on older goalies at big money when they could have gone after Jake.

If we invested in a younger goalie though we wouldn't have the opportunity to failingly grasp at our "Cup window" that closed two years ago (Shhhh, nobody tell the GM). And that would mean we'd be starting a rebuild sooner. Yuck! #Procrastination

Also, if we want to stay in a neverending battle of good vs. evil with the Penguins, then we have to meet their failures tit for tat.

The only positive for the Caps over the Penguins is that in 3 years the Caps won't have this shit show:

5 Forwards under contract at that time their ages will be: 37, 39, 33, 32 and 31. All with more years on their contracts except Crosby.
4 D-men: 37, 38, 35 and 29. With fucking Letang having THREE more years after that.
And No goalies under contract.

In contrast the Caps will only have 39-year-old AO, 35-year-old John Carlson and 35-year-old Kuemper.

Wonder how many of the remaining FA’s were offered deals or PTOs with Philly and said “no thanks I would rather play in Arizona or the KHL.”

No. He didn't even make the US Olympic team his first few years.

^ Seriously a good deal for him. Wasn't great, but he was never afraid to play with top skill players when needed. So this situation is perfect for him.
