The SPURS and LAKERS win all the titles for the West in this 15 year cycle.

Miami, Detroit, and Boston have more titles than all the other Western Contenders combined 4 times over in the last 15 years.

Why should any west team put down the east if they have not won titles either.

It is like Vanderbilt talking smack because Alabama wins football titles.

Conference Homerism in the Pros??

Here is the reality of the situation. Those teams who finished 9th & 10th in the west aren't good enough to win a title. Yeah if they were out east they would make the playoffs and probably get out of round 1 but I can't see the 9th or 10th in the west making out the 2nd round of the east playoffs most years. The pelicans & suns for example would be 6th & 7th with their current record in the east so they would play Cleveland and Chicago/Toronto. Both would lose in the first round

I understand the "they wouldn't win the title anyway" argument... but its not really a relevant argument against taking the top 16 teams, IMO. Its just an argument for why it might not matter. (And its a potential argument for playoff contraction.)

I mean, The 7th and 8th teams in the Eastern conference have even less of a chance of winning the title... and they're in... so what does that matter?

Relevant arguments against taking the top 16 seeds are schedule balancing issues (and related travel issues) and preserving consistent historical timeline.

Disagree.

The Heat has a better chance then the Suns IMO.

Yeah, in this case that's a legitimate argument... but a trade between the two teams had a huge impact on those teams not being what their current record says.

What the Phoenix Suns need to do is leave that hole in the wall, move to East Coast somewhere and become part of the Eastern Conference. Then they won't miss the playoffs as much and the problem is solved.

This has nothing to do with winning a title and I'm not bragging about teams in my conference that do. Once again the point went over people's heads.

I would rather see OKC-PHX-NOP in the playoffs than the bottom three East teams. Plain and simple.

No sport ever has the best 10,12, or 16 teams make the playoffs.

This is only an issue in the nba though as other sports are perfectly fine with not having the best teams make the playoffs

It's not the people's head that is the problem bro - it's the person who's trying to make the point:lol:

Again the NBA has to do something maybe cross over if 9 and 10 have better records in 1 conference than 7 and 8 in the other conference they should cross over to the other conference.

No other league has as much of a parity problem as this league does. It's been obvious for years. I don't even care if it benefits the Suns… I'll put that aside. As a BASKETBALL fan I'd rather not have Anthony Davis miss the playoffs over whichever shitty 8 seed makes it in the East.

The NBA doesnt need to do anything. Shocking.. the western conference fans want to see more western conference teams in the playoffs. I'm STUNNED!!!

The NBA playoffs builds great rivalries. Rivalries that fill seats in the regular season 4 times a year. You start mix matching the conferences then you are going to miss out on some of those games. Bottom line.. there are 15 teams in a conference, if your shitty Suns arent good enough to finish top 8, they suck. Period. They dont belong in the playoffs. View it as a badge of honor... it is actually mathematically harder to miss the NBA playoffs than make them.
