That is really hard to say. I had a feeling last night that Jay was trying to feature the run last night and he mostly confirmed that in his presser. You have to wonder why there weren't more attempts to WRs. It is preseason, it is time for the QB and WRs to work together. 8 passes by the starting QB? We haven't seen enough of the starting WRs to know how they are doing and that is a question mark coming in.

It is hard to say how weak WRs are because they are dependent upon the QB, unless they are dropping passes.

You could say the same about RBs needing an OL, except we lack talent at RB and we are talented on the OL.

With that being said, it is the RB. AP did the same thing last season but maybe his body wears out as he ages. CT is coming back from injury. Kelly sucks. Who knows with Perine?

This is the concern with AP. Its not what skills he has left, but how much pounding can his body still take. Can he make it through a 16 game season? Probably not as a workhorse back. This year it will be RB by committee. AJ will get 12-15 rushes per game. Kelly/Perine about the same. IF AJ gets more than that, he won't hold up.

I don’t see a pitch count on him because JG isn’t that smart. It would be more like 5 yards good run, ten yards did you see that, etc from AP. Then you see 2 yards from Kelly with no excitement or vision...do you really think JG would be able to see AP on the bench?

Honestly? Probably not. I am souring on JG. Once again, it appears his team will break from training camp not ready. He has yet to win an opening game. At what point do you change things up?

This team needs reps to gel. That is what preseason is for. I understand the risk of injuries and after last year, I can somewhat understand caution. But a loss is still a loss wether it be from key players injured or from lack of preparation. I err on the side of making sure my team was hitting on all cylinders even if it meant a greater risk of injury. Injuries are a part of football and are random at best.

What if AP doesn't hold up? The drop off is pretty steep, a point that been made several times in this thread.

True but we are really in trouble if CT goes down. I think Perine could be serviceable. Everyone should be excited what AP can bring to this team. Plus safeties will have to respect on running game more opening up our TE's and Wr''s.

smith wont succeed without a good run game .

his performance last night was amateurish. he missed a wide open richardson and selected VD who ran his route short . he completed 2 really good throws but looked like a deer lost in the headlights on others

the skins offense looked like crap under his guidance last night

keenum and KC however looked like professional qbs with their new teams

now i dont place full blame on this debacle on CDC (who played up to that moniker ) but on our lame ass coaching who year in and year out fails to prep our starting qbs correctly . he botched RG3 , KC (3x) and now CDC appears to be ready to grab that mantle

CDC is being held to the standard you all set with KC

now after all the above BS i will state that its preseason and we shouldnt make a big deal of it . too bad KC didnt get that

Oh No!, I do agree with you about AP. He brings something that we haven't seen here in a long time at RB. My concern and it appears that of others is, what happens if he goes down. We simply don't have another back like him on the roster.

I actually like Perine, and believe that we have yet to see the best of him. I don't know if you recall or not, I was one of his earliest supporters in terms of drafting him. He played alongside Mixon at OU and once the bengals drafted him my next choice was Perine.

I voted o line. Richardson has looked real good. He's quick. I think Reed gives us something this year and Smith has always loved throwing to the TE. AP is and upgrade over Kelley and Thompson is ready to really breakout and become a borderline star imo.

LG and C are going to be a problem all year long. I know everyone loves Chase but I'm not sure Lauvao or Chase could start for another team in the league.

Smith is what he is, a slight downgrade from Kirk, but has proven on two separate teams you can get to the playoffs with him under center.
