And you have your opinion which may or not happen, just like mine. Funny that you like D'Antoni's system but think he can't coach the system that he developed. As for defensive minded, that's why Rambis was hired. The problem isn't D'Antoni not allowing Rambis to do his job, the problem is that all of the injuries have caused too many lineup changes to allow the consistency and communication that is required to have a solid defense.

Exactly this is why I was telling you earlier, I don't think Dumbtoni allows Rambis to get his voice in that much, he has a power trip, I can smell it from miles away, Ive dealt with people with similiar personalities & body language like Dumbtoni's for years & I'm sorry if I call him Dumbtoni i'm just used to it by now:nod:

I know theres Injuries, but for the most part all of Dumbtoni's teams I believe have always given up a lot of points anyways. His mind set is we score 115 points we win who cares about defense ?

How about we score 115 points & we play at least a little above avg defense at least ? but no Dumbtoni does not believe in this, Its his way or GTFO attitude, wich is just 1 of many reasons why I don't think his a good coach let alone a great one.

This is where you're not giving him enough credit. First of all, every head coach at any high level of any sport is on a power trip to some degree. It's how they get to that level.

The fact that D'Antoni brought Rambis in shows that he knows that some defense has to be played. That he has learned that you have to be able to at least get a few stops here and there to win. Let's not forget, that prior to the injuries, we were all talking about how the Lakers were playing better perimeter defense than they have in years. So clearly, Rambis was being allowed to do some coaching.

For me, it like this, I am going to support D'Antoni until I feel like he has been given a fair shake. Once the Lakers have the roster he needs, if the they aren't playing to expectations, then the things I have to say about him will make you like you think he's better than Phil. Until then, I'm going to stay positive and see how things play out.

No but I believe his problaby a little more over the board with it, especially towards his players. & as for me giving him a fair shot I think Ive seen enough from last season & this season for me to not be impressed by him, but I think this is my fair opinion I don't have to give him any fair shots, but thats' up to management not me.

Playing better defense just because in a lot of those games they where down by a lot of points is not a good habbit to get in to, yes it was exciting but not relevant.

That's fine if you want to give him a fair shot, you have your reason for it & i'm pretty sure there is a few Laker fans that feel the same way, but rare to find, where are you guys hiding ??

Hell no I will never think Dumbtoni is better then Phil, I don't suffer from Psychosis my friend

Not saying that you think D'Antoni is better than Phil. I'm saying that what I have to say about him would make it look that way.

Well hopefully that won be the case, because no matter who is the coach I want the team to succeed ASAP, It would be horrible if the next two season'e they are still irrelevant

The problem that I have with the system is that they shoot way too many 3's even when they go in I would love to see us cut down a little bit more on them. Let's drive to basket a little more get to the FT line. I hated when they run down court at times & they shoot a 3 right away with no offensive rebounder down on the block ugh! & then they will do it the next 2 posessions again

Like :wtf2: :laugh3:

And it doesn't make it any easier when Gasol is in the post & just fucken stands their thinking about his ex girlfriend & the rebound goes to the other team & off to the race tracks :L

If coach Dumbtoni where to make some adjustments on his system a little it wouldn't hurt & he needs to also make good substitutions, I don't understand why at times he takes out players that are doing well & brings in somebody who ain't doing shit at times. He also needs to stop making it seem like he punishes players & puts them in the dog house :laugh3:

If he were to maybe let Rambis get in his voice a little more & preach defense also himself, then Dumbtoni would be pretty good IMO

This is what I mean about patience and getting the roster he needs. Once the players have his system down, the number of 3's they take will decrease and they will shoot an even better percentage because they will be even better looks. It's going to take time though.

What made his Suns teams so dangerous was that they could literally score from anywhere on the floor at anytime. They literally had to be defended almost full court because they could run on you, hit mid-range shots and shoot the 3. Teams had to literally defend against everything at the same time. That's what we've seen flashes of this year when the offense is running the way it's intended.

As for the substitution patterns. I agree that they've been pretty inconsistent. You have to remember though, it's an almost entirely new roster and he's trying to find the best combinations. The injuries aren't helping the process either. Once everyone comes back, if they can stay healthy, we should see more consistency to the substitution patterns. Remember, every time someone goes down, it effects playing time and substitution and does the same when they come back.

Again, he's letting Rambis do his job, there just isn't consistency and communication yet. The Lakers aren't ever going to be mistaken for the Bulls defensively, but once they are healthy again, we should start to see some improvement on defense. Don't forget, before Kobe came back, some were concerned that he would have a negative effect on the good perimeter defense that we were starting to see.

I hope so because that :ss: pisses me off when they do that :L

If their going to be this kind of team don't you think they are going to to need an all star caliber PG at least ?? because they did have Nash running that Suns team to a T

I think Kobe coming back is a Plus on the defensive end, yes his not who he use to be, but once he gets his feet under him he is still a 6/7 guard who is strong for his size & can get a steal & put some pressure on you, when healty of course.

Me too. The 3 is a great weapon when used properly, but there's a reason that they say: "Live by the 3, die by the 3".

They don't necessarily have to be All-Star caliber, but they have to be more "pass-first" and know the system. Before they got hurt, both Farmar and Blake were looking like they could run the point in this system just fine. In fact, I've commented before that some of the stuff Farmar has been doing is vintage Steve Nash.

I agree. Kobe isn't going to be able to use athleticism like he used to and because of that, will get beat some. But he understands spacing and how to anticipate moves. He will have to be a smart defender rather than an athletic one.

Kind of like MWP for the last 3 years or so. He wasn't the defender that he used to be, but he was still very effective because he knew how to play defense and how to use his body.
