Not arbitrary. When somebody says experience counts and Stafford can still improve, why can't KC improve when he has less experience?

It's funny how Cuz's detractors keep saying he's hit his ceiling but he gets better and better each year?

How many were saying he would never be better than RG3 and the best Capt Kirk would be is his back up? Five years later Big Cuz has broken franchise records for passing, almost reaching 5,000 yards, in his first two years as the undisputed starter and lead The Redskins to consecutive winning seasons; the first to do so in twenty years. Meanwhile Griffin isn't even in the leauge anymore.

It's arbitrary to say at 8 years you can't improve but at 2 you can. Especially when it's not really 2 years.

I'm not sure anybodys saying he can't develop. But this decision shouldn't be made with any expectation of development. Assuming development for a 29 year old with 46 games under his belt is dangerous.

Same question I have asked every one else.

Who should we get instead, and what will be the expected cost of this elite QB in both Cap space and draft capitol??

He can certainly still improve, never said he couldn't. But he could still regress or completely flop. Will he? Probably not. But history tells us that 2 good years doesn't make a good QB. And this debate is about who is the better QB right now. Stafford has done it over a much longer period time, so yes, IMO that makes him better.

Cousins probably had comparable stats to Aaron Rodgers last year, but I don't see anyone declaring KC better than AR.

We will just have to agree to disagree. Experience and a proven track record of doing well counts for something in the real world.

Experience doesn't really matter if hes not actually out playing cousins though.

I guess not. But with your logic, Kirk is equal or better than most of the GREAT QBs in this league right now, because you folks are stat whores.

So for all us stat whores... do us a solid.

Who should we get, whats a reasonable cap cost for this elite QB, and whats he going to cost us in draft picks.

See all we really want is, if we are going to move away from a good QB, give us the name, cost and availability of the better QB we should replace him with.

Easy question right??

It wasn't arbitrary at all. Read it in context.

I think players can improve all the time. I was using it as an example of the hypocrisy. Who has more to learn and this improve more...a guy with two years or a guy with 8?

Sorry if I misunderstood you, it just seemed like you were saying experience doesn't matter when considering a QBs body of work. All I am getting at is I would take Stafford over KC because he has done it over a much longer period of time, and arguably with an inferior supporting cast (minus Megatron).

The fact he had Megatron trumps anything and everything we have ever had. Plus he had Tate which is better than Garçon and DJ.

Not sure about anyone else but my pt was that both of them could improve. I find it amusing that we appear to have several Redskins fans on this board going out of their way to try to prove that Stafford is much better (when he may be marginally better at best).

Why so much distrust of Cousins? Are some of you RG3 lovers? Are you folks that think that only Brady level QBs should command big money? Are you holding out (slim) hope that the Skins would do better waiting on that once-in-a-lifetime QB in the near future? Do you think (incorrectly) that a big contract for Cousins will put the Skins in cap hell? Just curious. I realize that he has flaws (laughable when folks claim that most of us view Cousins as the greatest or don't see his weaknesses), but these are flaws that are correctable - time will tell if he does correct them, but I say take the risk.

For the umpteenth million time Shark, not saying we should get rid of him. As you and many others have said countless times, we don't have any better options in the short term.

I'm a glass half empty kinda guy wrt KC. He hasn't done enough to prove to me that he will guide us to the promised land. Myself, Dean, and a few others are continuously chastised for feeling that way. It's ok, I have thick Skin (no pun intended). But while I would expect most of the rest to be the glass half full types, it seems more are glass all full and running over in the floor. That's ok. Yalls opinion.

From the ESPN article about Carr:

Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins: Carr's deal certainly raises the bar, but it's one the Redskins were unlikely to hit anyway. And Cousins' goal hasn't been to become the highest-paid passer, but rather to be paid commensurate with his leverage, starting at his franchise tag number of $23.9 million. If the Redskins hit that, with the right guarantees, there is a shot it could lead to a deal -- regardless of Carr's average salary figure. – John Keim

If this is accurate then this sound reasonable & promising. It sounds like Cousins is asking for what he can expect to get either in DC or elsewhere - I see nothing wrong with that at all.
