Hard to say. Deferring like that is definitely a win now move...but eventually that bill will come due closer to the end of Ohtani's deal and who knows what he'll have left. Other teams may not be willing to do that. But, another couple of WS wins probably makes it worth it.

They don't even really start paying human until 2034. He makes 2 million a year until then. He makes 68 million a year for a decade after his contract has expired.
