The line is at secondary with self reporting. Secondary violations do not give an overly competitive advantage, IF any at all, to a team. The schools normally set their own punishment … we banned one of our coaches from recruiting for a week over one text … and if the NCAA disagrees with the self imposed sanctions, they step in. The benefit is that schools are policing themselves, and if they self report and correct the minor violations it saves time/resources. It also kind of destroys you "and nothing happens" narrative.
Cam Newton is still laughing.

Still kicking that ass again come November. We’re coming for the Harbaugh knock out punch. Who’s the next Michigan man up? Brady?
Looks like Harbaugh knocked out Meyer by punching Meyer’s fist with Harbaugh’s face.

That's like saying "At what point does a pile of jaywalking tickets add up to homicide?" Give me a break.
Even as a known Urban Meyer apologist, do you really want to bring up murder? I wouldn't recommend suicide either.

You should have known he couldn’t miss a chance to take shots at Urban Meyer and/or Ohio State.
I thought he said when he sold the place that he wasn't coming back because he was traveling the world and banging supermodels or something. Guess he ran out of beaches/supermodels?

Here's the cliffnotes from Ohio State fans in this thread for anyone interested: "As long as recruits keep commiting, we really don't give two shits about violations. Hell, we'll excuse anything!"

I'll actually welcome any coach of any team to tweet or text players at any time. Fuck the NCAA and their inconsistent, antiquated bullshit "rules".

He ran out of money. Coke was more expensive than anticipated.

Or, a better question - Why do you care? Just because you want to take a dig at Urban? We all know if this happened at, say, Texas Tech, you wouldn't give a flying fuck.
Certainly my interest in laughing at OSU brought me to this point, but I think it's an interesting question to ask. What's the point of these rules?

Most of the time nothing happens, some of the time a school implements a very minor penalty. These rules are minor by nature and 1 of them is an extremely minor offense. But what about 30 of them? If you illegally contact 1 recruit in a no-contact period, meh. But what about contacting 30 recruits in a no-contact period?

They are pointless. Again, Tennessee's coach had to face a "violation" for tweeting congrats to a HS basketball team. That alone should tell you the problem is with the NCAA, not the coaches. If sending a tweet or text to a kid is all you need to get him to commit, you were likely getting his commitment regardless.
