Another thing I'll never get about the tennis schedule.

Why in the world is Clay Court season (excluding the French) is about a Month and a half long while Grass season ( excluding Wimbledon) is 3 weeks long? Makes absolutely no sense
tennis was 80% on grass courts for a couple of hundred years. it only really changed in the last 30 or so.

grass courts are crazy hard/expensive to maintain. a lot of them were complete shit holes, even on the pro tour in the past. players today are so coddled/entitled/prima donnas, that they would be bitching non stop about most of the grounds tournaments were played on with grass.

in short, the grass season would be longer if anybody cared to try to maintain pristine grass courts, plain and simple. nobody outside of the handful we have right now are willing to put that much time and money into it.

Isn't the pre-USO hard court season about 1.5 months long too?

And the post-USO indoor hard court season?

And the post AO through Indian Wells and Miami?

I guess its because not enough events want to host grass events, or maintain grass events? Its hard to introduce new tourneys at this point, and add even more MS 500 and 1000 events. What would have to happen is for existing lower tier events to change to grass, and become MS 500 and MS 1000 events.

There's probably not a simple answer, other than that not enough event owners want things to change enough, and have more grass events.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking that with my response.

The top players aren't going to want to to go events if the grass isn't superbly maintained.

What are the differences, in maintaining a MLB field, and a set of grass courts?

I am hoping someone comes up with an artificial turf for tennis. Maybe a rubberized grass.

Also, Why not still do a smaller tourny at the West side tennis club in Forrest Hills. Not much going on there in June.

My goodness, Madison Keyes.Really? She is one of the few up and coming Americans I really thought could go to places and even perform better than Sloane Stephens. And she got shellacked 6-2;6-2 by Belinda Bencic at Aegon International? Granted Belinda has been playing well of late but please. I was not worried that Alison Riske lost to Eugenie Bouchard in straight set but Madison? This is bot going well for us.

Womens tennis is so bad and I see no change in sight. When Serena goes there will be a bunch of no names with marginal talent winning slams. Reminds me of the Hewitt/Roddick era on the mens side. Thankfully these are usually short lived.

Belinda Bencic versus Agneiska Radwanska for the Aegon championship. For Bencic, who is mentored by Martina Hingis had a walk-over on Caroline Wozniacki after Aggie had spanked Sloane Stephens. Unbelievable.

Novak has a tough opening match vs Kohlschreiber. I think Kohl takes a set

I am going with Fed. I think he makes one last gasp and brings home his last major. Hard to see Stan coming back and winning grass after winning clay, but he was really dominant in the French. Nole has a decent draw and could get there. I want to see progression from Sock. He better at least get to round 3 to face Fed.

For the women I cant pick anyone other than Serena because the rest of the pack is so bad. Unfortunately, women are very unpredictable on grass and anything can happen as witnessed by MArion Bartoli actually winning and never facing a top 15 player.

Nole has all kinds of land mines in his 1/2 of the draw; Tomic, Janowicz, Kokkinakis, & #33 Kohlschreiber in the 1st rd! I thought the FO draw was tough w/ Nadal and Murray in his path! Both Roger and Nole are going to be put 'under the gun' from opening rds!

Men's Bracket - Projected 4th rd:

#1 Djokovic vs #14 Anderson
#5 Nishikori vs #9 Cilic

#4 Wawrinka vs #16 Goffin
#7 Raonic vs. #11 Dimitrov

#3 Murray vs #13 Tsonga
#8 Ferrer vs #10 Nadal

#2 Federer vs #15 Lopez
#6 Berdych vs #12 Simon

Bencic has been playing well lately and could be a threat at Wimby.
