The way they brought back Deville was dumb as fuck. She gets written off the show in a "loser leaves town" match and all they do is have Graves say "she's reinstated" while explaining nothing as she walks around backstage. Just fucking lazy as hell. And not to mention, her real life ordeal with that shitbag stalker has boosted her popularity. Fans want to see her succeed and have good things happen for her. So why not lean into that with some kind of surprise (like a Rumble entrant) or something that leads to feel good moments?

I don't think they have to go that far because they wanted Rousey to be Brock Lesnar, and I'm not a fan of how WWE used the latter day Lesnar where he comes in once every few weeks, does a quick match, wins, and leaves. That's too high a pedestal and its really not all that interesting. But if they dialed it back and just booked her like a Becky Lynch or Charlotte, where she's treated like a big deal and consistently featured as she runs up the card to the top, that's more than enough. And people would eat that up.

If it was any other show you’d be right, but the Rumble doesn’t need the world title matches to be believable because that’s not the selling point. Plus with Roman these days his matches are more for storyline purposes than legit wrestling matches. No one believed Uso was going to beat Roman at HIAC but that didn’t stop the match from delivering.
