It's sort of shitty how they just dump the US Title on Rey with no story whatsoever. He loses his WWE Title match so let's immediately toss him the US Title because *shrug emoji*. Like they couldn't even wait one week to tell a halfassed story of Rey winning the contender's match and then going for the US Title. They blew thru it all in one night.

I agree, I don't fully understand the angle of Orton helping him either. Randy is a natural heel. His shtick doesn't work as a face. Maybe he's going to earn Rey's trust and backstab him.

Thought it was either a strange coincidence or a play off of those fake/planted dirtsheet reports from a few weeks back that Rollins started off the show giving a smug rah rah speech to the locker room.

Feels like a half heel turn right now. Kind of like how Bayley started. I'm sure we'll get there.

Orton is one of the best heels in the entire company.

how giving McIntryre something to do? Like anything?

I mean, allegedly he was supposed to be the guy who was going to win KoTR. you would assume they had a plan for him...

I’m sure with TLC in 3 weeks away they had to set up that PPV as quickly as they can, and if AJ wasn’t going to be US champion might as well take it off him the first week so you have the remaining weeks to build to the US title match or his next feud. We may get AJ vs Orton at TLC coming out of this so best start the build for that now instead of next week and only have 1 week left to do anything.

Also this was the arena that where Rey won the world title at Wrestlemania so that may have played a part in it as well.

Yeah but if that was their reasoning, they should have planned for this by having a story that's built up over the last couple of weeks. AJ didn't defend the title at SS so it would have been logical to conclude whatever story they came up with the next night on Raw. They could have picked any number of people to do it. But that's why WWE struggles; they don't consistently focus on actual storytelling but just go for quick moments. Putting the title on Rey with no build up wasn't something thought out. They just did it. It's hard to keep people invested week to week when they don't put in the effort to stories.
