The Russians could be great or awful. That D is....interesting

Also of note, while any team can win on a given day, the USA (and Russia) have the disadvantage of having only 1 cupcake (sorry Slovenia) in their group whereas the others have 2

I would argue that Group C is actually the toughest draw (I don't think anyone argues against B being the easiest).

In the pre-Olympic rankings, Sweden and CR were 1 and 4 respectively, Switzerland was 7 (only one spot behind USA) and Latvia was 11.

Slovakia meanwhile is 8 and Slovenia is 16 with Russia and the US being 1 and 6 respectively.

Obviously a lot of the tournaments on which these rankings are based used different players (or incomplete NHL rosters for the World's), but let's not forget that the Swiss took Silver with a shutout over the US in the semis in the last World's, where they proceeded to lose to (host) Sweden in the finals. The Swiss had also previously knocked the Czechs out in the first elimination round and won their group (which included Canada) in the group phase.

I think Group A has the toughest from 1-3, while Group C is the deepest 1-4. I'm totally with you on Group B being the easiest tho, especially if you're Canada.

i have no idea why they aren't putting zetterberg with nyquist. those 2 have great chemistry right now

I like it when Team Canada's 3rd line consists of Tavares - Getzlaf - Perry...

I hope the refs for the mens is better than the womens. I just watched a clear goal by japan against Russia get ignored. the ref behind the net wasn't paying attention. the review booth is calling the refs over and they ignore it. brutal

These are IIHF refs, so the answer is likely no, if you don't like NHL officials, you're going to like these refs even less.

I can handle some bad calls but missing a goal and ignoring the booth calling u over to review it is a joke

In yesterday's Canada - Finland game, Kevin Dineen (coach of Canada's women's team) called the ref over for an explanation over a penalty call. He got dinged two minutes for delay of game.
