We keep hearing all the accolades of the players who were on the roster the last X amount of years, yet the fact remains that they couldn't sniff even an 8 seed in a weak EC since James left.

Whatever success you have will strictly be because of James, and he could easily accomplish that success with several other rosters in the NBA.

8th seed?

They never won more than 33 games.

Cavs fans are clearly delusional when it comes to Irving.

He is talented.

But, he doesn't make anyone better.

The Cavs will be contenders if they get Love.

But, Kyrie will be relegated to a overpaid 3rd option.

... one can easily make a case to take near half the starting PGs in the NBA over [Kyrie Irving] ...

I disagree, especially with your use of the word easily.

Starting PG's that a GM would hands-down, unarguably take before Kyrie.
1. Chris Paul
2. Russell Westbrook
3. Stephen Curry

Starting PG's that most GM's would probably take before Kyrie:
4. Derrick Rose
5. John Wall
6. Tony Parker

Starting PG's that would be a close call whether to take before Kyrie
7. Damien Lillard
8. Deron Williams
9. Rajon Rondo
10. Goran Dragic
11. Kyle Lowry

Starting PG's that GM's would definitely not take before Kyrie
12. Kemba Walker
13. Ricky Rubio
14. Mike Conley
15. Jeff Teague
16. Jrue Holiday
17. Brandon Knight
18. Brandon Jennings
19. Jose Calderon
20. Michael Carter-Williams
21. Patrick Beverly
22. Trey Burke
23. Ty Lawson
24. Mario Chalmers
25. George Hill
26. Darrin Collison
27. Elfrid Payton / Luke Ridnour
28. Jameer Nelson / Monta Ellis / Raymond Felton
29. Steve Nash / Jeremy Lin

IMO, it is very hard to argue Kyrie's rank among starting point guards as anything outside of the 4-11 range.

I would take Skylar Diggins over Kyrie.
Better resume + she has a vagina.

I wouldn't take Lowry, Deron Williams nor Rondo over Kyrie.

But, all the other top 11, yes.

Listen, you can't be a top 10 pg when you get beat the way this guy does.

Irving has surrendered big games against Michael Carter-Williams (33 points and five assists), Isaiah Thomas (26 points and six assists) and Damian Lillard (28 points and five assists), among others.

Now, those Guys are Stars. But, what about this one?

A recent notable outburst came courtesy of Chicago Bulls point guard D.J. Augustin, who was signed by Chicago after the Toronto Raptors released him on Dec. 9. Augustin poured in 27 points on 8-of-14 shooting (5-of-8 from downtown) against Irving and the Cavs. He added seven assists and five rebounds while turning the ball over just twice.

And the Coup de grace....

Cavs 61-131 since Kyrie Irving was drafted. Not all on him at all, but that’s a damning record. Do ‘franchise changing-stars’ allow that?

But.... you just basically put him in the top 10. If you'll take everyone from the top 11 of that list before Kyrie except Lowry, Deron, and Rondo.... that means you have Kyrie at #9.

Do franchise changing stars allow that?

Yes. Yes, they do. When they are in their first 3-4 years they do.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a nba star who came into the league winning right away as the best player on the team.

LeBron did. Magic and Duncan did, but they both fell into exceptionally great situations. Wade did (as a 4-year college player).

Go look at Durant's record his first few years or any great player, really.

The only thing I've seen is odds on winning the title and odds on winning the EC.

vegasinsider has the Cavs 16/5 odds to win the title, 21/20 to win the East. Bulls have the next best odds at 3/1, then the Wizards at 15/1.

Those odds seem quite optomistic about the Cavs... but you have to remember Vegas odds are just as much about what they think will get them the most even action as they are about what they think will actually happen.

On betus.com Cavs are amazingly +115 to win EC, and more amazingly favored to win title at +350.
Spurs are 2nd choice at +450.

Yes, but you do realize they had an aging Big Z, Eric Snow, and Larry Hughes in their starting lineup. Then Drew Gooden and Lebron. Yes, they were focused on defense but lets not act like they are premier defenders especially with their age. Hughes was actually only 28, but wouldn't call him a great defender.

Newble was a good defender but hardly played, and Pavlovic was a really good defender off the bench.

Who on the Spurs would be considered a premier defender, especially with their age? Kawhi is about the only one. It's not about playing great individual defense, it's about being able to play great team defense.

Those Cavs teams may not have been filled with great individual defensive players, but they played very good to great team defense. Just like the Spurs this past season.

No.

I'd probably take Kemba over him too.

NCAA Champ and playoff participant.

Dude is a winner.

Damn, 30mil a year?

So much for guys being limited by playing in smaller markets.

Kevin Durant could sign a deal worth as much as $30 million per year with Under Armour.

Durant's seven-year, $60 million deal with Nike is expiring.

Under Armour is based in Durant's home state of Maryland.

Nike and Adidas are also in talks with Durant.

A deal with Under Armour could also be beneficial to the Washington Wizards, one of several teams that are expected to pursue Durant when he hits free agency in 2016. Ted Leonsis and Under Armour Founder/CEO Kevin Plank, a University of Maryland graduate, have been involved in several philanthropic endeavors in the D.C. area.

Like I've said, Cavs window might be the next 2 years, and good luck with that.

The pressure on James to deliver that title to NE Ohio is going to only intensify.
By 2017 he will be totally bald, and his fingers will be down to nubs from him chewing on them.
