But you guys think Lebron's going to make Kyrie a good defender all of a sudden.

He can get better, remember he is 22. It takes times, but he could help and Kyrie could become ablverage but he is there bc he is greatly gifted offensively.

You act like Bosh and Chalmers were so much better defenders, they weren't. They were average and Chalmers was barely that. Other guys made them look better than they were.

Bosh is a much better defender than any of those 2

how many pgs in the league are good defenders?

how many pgs that are THAT good offensively and lead the league in game winners snce he came in are good defenderS?

how many players that young are good defenders?

how many players that look like they are high school kids- like kyrie- are good defenders right away? kyrie was not a bledsoe or rw or rose or something likethat--- dude looked like he was a little kid

he will get better now that he has physically matured, hit the weight room- and no longer has to carry the whole load on offense...

he will never be a great defender- but he can and will, in my opinion, work his way into being an adequate defender

The hype has got to stop... The dude doesn't deserve it. Wall is a better overall player. Kyrie can give a crap about defense

Cleveland should be heavily favored. Why is everyone making excuses for them? They have the best basketball player in the world. They have Love and Irving, two all stars in their prime as well as some number one picks and savvy veterans. Not winning the title or at least not winning the East would be a HUGE disappointment if they end up giving up the last 2 #1 picks for Love a free agent after this year.

*1 all star

Yeah, I agree, if the Love thing happens... mainly because of the state of the Eastern conference. If they were in the West, that would be completely different, obviously.

There have been some funny sentiments expressed by many on this board lately:

2 months ago: LeBron will NEVER go to the Cavs. They have a coach he never met and an owner that publicly ridiculed him. They have no one on their roster that is any good. They SUCK. Anyone that honestly thinks he would do that is a complete moron.

3 weeks ago: LeBron's letter about going to Cleveland because its home is such BS. He's lying. The real reason he went to Cleveland is because they have the best roster lineup in the entire NBA. This is such a PR move. Anyone who believes that his decision is based on going home is a complete moron.

This past week: People actually think the Cavs are going to be good? Maybe in 5 or six years. Kyrie Irving is a slight upgrade over Chalmers and Kevin Love couldn't stop a 2nd grader from scoring. Anyone that thinks they'll compete for a title next year is a complete moron.

Uhh if love comes to the team it's gonna be pretty hard to NOT be a really good team with lebron and Love on your team..

You apparently didn't watch the Finals then. The Heat got away with getting to the Finals based on the fact that the only competition in the East was the Pacers, who seemed to have their own completely different set of issues.

4 straight Finals. If they would of had more depth and bigs they could of won 3. With their lack of bench I would say they did great

But Varajeo and TT are damn good defenders. I don't why you need a great defenderat every position. That will never happen.

We keep hearing all the accolades of the players who were on the roster the last X amount of years, yet the fact remains that they couldn't sniff even an 8 seed in a weak EC since James left.

Whatever success you have will strictly be because of James, and he could easily accomplish that success with several other rosters in the NBA.

I think that is a given. Lebron made a shitty Cavs team into a championship contender. This team is young and almost sniffed the playoffs. You add veterans and another star and they are favs in the East. Now I don't make them favs overall bc they still have no chemistry and experience in the playoffs, some of the guys don't especially Irving. So you give them a year or less and they could be favs.

You have to understand they were led by a 22 year old that missed some time in almost every season bc of injury. No momentum, no leadership, no coaching= no winning.

The cavs team back then was not shitty had a great defensive team. Do people think defense does not exist?

To be a great defensive team you need atleast 3 really good to elite defenders in your lineup

Yes, but you do realize they had an aging Big Z, Eric Snow, and Larry Hughes in their starting lineup. Then Drew Gooden and Lebron. Yes, they were focused on defense but lets not act like they are premier defenders especially with their age. Hughes was actually only 28, but wouldn't call him a great defender.

Newble was a good defender but hardly played, and Pavlovic was a really good defender off the bench.

You act like Kyrie is the only college player to bolt after 1 season.

Enough with the excuses. Bottom line is he was a by default #1 draft choice.
No question he is talented, but one can easily make a case to take near half the starting PGs in the NBA over him.

And, I know they aren't, but a Bulls team w/Rose should be favored over any team in the East.
James is better than Rose, but the Bulls roster is deeper and they have a proven team chemistry, solid coaching, and are very good defensively.
