I think they will have a much better roster than people think.

KOBE was 1st team all NBA his last full season. He claims to be 100% healthy.
I think he will be a very good player in 2014-15.

PG - Lin/Nash
SG Kobe
SF - Swaggy P
PF - Boozer
PF - Hill/Randle

That is not a bad little team. It is no worse than the Phoenix or Dallas roster from last season that each threatened 50 wins.

I don't know if Boozer ends up there...but the Lakers seem to be going for him.
That roster could compete easily for a top 3 seed in the East and a 6-8 seed in the West.

OK. I agree with you that this roster is ok and doesn't totally suck. But that roster that the Lakers have is not better than the Wizards, Heat, Pacers, Bulls or Cavs even though they haven't proved shit even with Lebron. The Lakers will be fighting for a playoff spot, but I would put them as the odd man out as of now.

Here's the problem in Miami......I keep hearing how bad Beasley was on defense, yet I saw Allen and Lewis rack up minutes, and NEITHER of them could guard my grandmother.

Beasley isn't the problem.....SPOELSTRA is. If Beasley isn't cutting it on D, THIS IS WHY YOU ARE PAID TO COACH.

Coach him up! That's Spo's JOB......you don't leave a good 15 points per on the bench all year when you need bench points! Put his ass to work and teach him what you want him to do. I GUARANTEE you if he was playing in San Antonio or Dallas he'd be locking dudes down on defense.

It's been mentioned that Beasley was unfocused alot during the season and this was one of the things that pissed Lebron off. It is Spo's job to coach players up, but at some point if the person you're trying to coach isn't listening then you have to cut them. Even Popovich can't coach up everyone.

None of us are in practice and see's what goes on in practice. It actually says alot that Rashard and Ray Allen were getting torched on the perimeter and Beasley still didn't get minutes.

Agreed. The other guys he mentioned are first-ballot hall of famers. I will always remember Terry for this though.

Issue with embedding the youtube link....here's the gif and there goes my thunder.

KOBE was all-NBA first team in 2013.
It is ridiculous to assume he is going to suck next season. He claims to be 100% and is the most driven player arguably in league history.

I think KOBE will be at least allstar level and probably be flirting with 2nd/3rd team all NBA.

That potential roster is really not that bad.

I would take it over the 2013-14 Dallas or Phoenix rosters at the start of last season.
Both of those squads surprised everyone with better than expected results from on paper crap rosters.

I think LA will surprise a lot of teams.

Now, if the Boozer thing falls apart....the roster is not quite the same.

Nah...it's pretty rough. If they snag the 8th seed, give Kobe the unanimous MVP. That's a 34 win team at best. And if Kobe isn't healthy, they might actually be awful enough to keep their draft pick (Top 5 protected)

Trojan can save this post in the vault. But if the roster remains as is (even if they sign Boozer), if Kobe leads that Lakers roster to the playoffs, then yes give Kobe the damn MVP.

Ummmmm.......no, that roster is pretty bad. Outside of Kobe, Jose Calderon and Monta Ellis alone was better than everyone on this proposed roster.

I'd take last year's Mavs team over this one in a heartbeat. This Laker's team is probably a 30-40 win team MAX. Too many holes, too many defensive problems, not even VAGUELY enough offense. No interior presence......no real shooters.

I have no idea what you see in this roster outside of an aging Kobe that's never really EVER been able to carry a roster alone.

:laugh3:

Where's the D? Kobe played out of his mind 2 years ago to get the 8th seed and the West has gotten better and deeper.

By my count, you have 1 great team with the Spurs, 1 really good team who upgraded their coach (Warriors), 2 really good team who added a stretch perimeter shooter to matchup with the Spurs (Clippers, Mavs), 1 really good team who added another shooter (Thunder), 1 really good team who swapped a 3pt specialist for a veteran shooter (Grizzlies), 2 exciting teams that should be even better next year (Suns, Blazers) and one really good team who is still in the market (Rockets)

Where are these wins for the Lakers coming from? Ideally the Lakers can hop the Kings, Pelicans, Nuggets and TWolves. I think it would be asking a ton for them to make a move bigger than that

All 9 are still far enough the salary cap to submit a realistic bid. Per Stein.
