Those aren't good pieces. Wiggins is not proven, Bennett is a bust, Varejao is overpaid and Thompson is OK. That doesn't beat out the GSW offer, not by a long shot.

The picks are the only thing that make it worth considering.......and you're also forgetting you have to take back KEVIN MARTIN, as well as get Love to re-sign.

That kills any deal to Cleveland by itself.

Varejao is an expiring contract... a very attractive piece.

Wiggins is certainly unproven... but his value as a trade asset is very high considering he was a consensus top-2 pick in the draft a couple weeks ago and considered by many to have franchise player potential. He's also, like any player on their first contract a potential bargain.

Waiters and Thompson are already proven and still very young Wiggins has more potential than anyone. And 1st round picks

Plus they would get rid of about $24 mil, Love is only $15.

Actually, it makes perfect sense. Available cap space is always a good thing. Especially for teams that are unlikely to make the playoffs without landing a big name. If they don't get Lebron now, they have space to go after someone else next season.

That's why I don't sweat whether the Lakers get 'Melo or not. If they do, fine. If not, they'll have cap space to get someone else next year.

What position does salary cap play? And does it run zone defense?

Cap space is all good and well, but dumping players is risky if your player you dumped for doesn't arrive.

Like I said, it's a poor offer. It doesn't beat out the GSW offer, not by a long shot. Barnes and Klay are better than that entire offer alone.

If you're Minny you want to acquire a PROVEN talent you can build around or use as a key piece. You get virtually nothing but role players and unknowns with the Cleveland deal.

The problem with this is Minny has already gotten better trade offers with teams Love has said he'd sign with and turned them down.

Love isn't going to limit his options to Cleveland, that's for certain. So all that pontificating was for nothing.

Oh, it wasn't for nothing. I enjoyed it.

I never implied that Love would do that... just mentioned that its possible. He could easily change his mind on going to GS or BOS if an unexpected opportunity presented itself.

Again, I'm not the one suggesting that my opinion is definitive or the only possibility. That would be you... which makes your use of the verb 'pontificating' to describe my post interesting.

I can certainly see that argument. I am actually personally not sold on Wiggins future, so if I were in MIN shoes I wouldn't exactly be jumping all over it.

I know Minnesota has been vocal about wanting to acquire proven players... but I never bought into that fully. They should be acquiring young potential stars, draft picks, and expiring contracts in my opinion (exactly what CLE has to offer).

Min is in a position to rebuild not to go start winning anything... no matter who they get for Love.

Riley might be the only one meeting with Lebron, but you can bet Wade and Spo are going to be sitting outside the door before and after.

The tweet that was posted earlier where "sources say Lebrons friend laughed at the notion that the Heats 2 signings yesterday impressed lebron" really bugs me. What is Riley supposed to do? How is he supposed to attract players when he doesnt know if LBj is coming back or what the $$ deal is. and wasnt it reported Lebron wanted Shabazz and McRoberts? So now that Riley went and got them, its laughable?

Trade footnote: Boston had to use its Paul Pierce trade exception -- which expires Monday -- to facilitate three-way deal with Cavs & Nets

Clevlenad

Waiters averaged 16 and 3, mostly coming off the bench
Thompson 12 and 10
Varejeo 9 and 10 off the bench. When he started he averaged 14 and 14
Plus Wiggins and 1st round picks.

GSW
Barnes 9 and 4
Lee 18 and 9 and he is 31.
Clay 18 and 3

Cleveland's offer isn't as bad as you think.

SO....for hypothetical reasons, IF Kevin Love gets traded to wherever...I wonder if that make us the favorites to land Carmelo? Assuming that he doesn't want to take the paycut from Chicago, and assuming that NY's big plan was to land Kevin Love in 2015...

Yeah, I agree, considering what Riley has to work with... those signing are actually pretty decent, IMO. Who cares how friends of LeBron's reacted, though? Plenty of casual NBA fans were making fun of it too... but LeBron is smarter than that.

Only way lebron goes to Cleveland is if love is on his way too that's better than the heat IMO if not lebron to Cleveland is not as good as the heat.

I just read that the meeting today with Riley, was requested by lebrons agent, not by Lebron or Riley... what could that possibly mean? This agent seriously has his own agenda and should be fired. Who else does he represent? Is it possible he is doing all this knowing Lebron doesnt want to go there? That way when he chooses elsewhere he can say to the cavs, i have these guys who you can sign.

Exclusive per ESPN: Lebron James will make his decision whenever the Hell he wants.

Not serious, joking.
