Interesting...I heard for Love the Cavs offered Wig, Waiters, and Thompson and draft picks.

Thompson has been solid the last couple years and an interesting add. Could be enticing, all are very young players.

As long as they ship out $12+ million in salaries as part of the trade... there's still enough room for a Max for LeBron.

Varejao makes 9 million, Wiggins, Bennett and Thompson at 5, Waiters at 4, Gee at 3... so there's plenty of ways to put the pieces together.
Agree the question is whether those are better pieces than what other team's offer. That move does not happen without Lebron first being signed. very interesting turn of events. the man is on his way to Cleveland in all liklihood to play for a man that totally dissed him. Remarkable....

Column: Dan Gilbert factor means return to Cleveland would require a major concession by LeBron NBA: How could LeBron James play for Dan Gilbert? - ESPN

I think it was starbigd that came up with a "Witness the Forgiveness" slogan if LeBron goes back to the Cavs.

Its perfect. A reunion would be all about the Cavs fans forgiving LeBron for leaving the way he did and LeBron forgiving Gilbert for being a complete douche.

They don't have the assets, nor is there a guarantee Love will sign. They also can't afford to take on Kevin Martin's contract. A move for Love is not in the realm of possibility.

They have young assets and plenty of them and a shit ton of draft picks. You don't know what you are talking about.

They have Waiters, Wiggins, Thompson, Bennett, Varejeo. 3 of those being young, very good assets and 3 1st round picks! :laugh3:

The big names have to sign first and then it'll be a fucking feeding frenzy.

Love isn't re-signing in Cleveland, bro.

I think there are only two options IMO:

1. Bosh signs w/ Houston, so the Heat will bring Melo to Miami

2. Or Lebron goes to Cleveland

1) To say a Love to Cavs trade is not possible is going too far, IMO. Whether its likely or attractive enough to the Wolves may be debatable but it most certainly is possible.

2) Let's not forget the power Love has here. The Wolves could lose him and get nothing for him. It was reported a long time ago that Love would be amenable to going to the Cavs if LeBron was there... and its hard to imagine that not being the case. If he makes up his mind that that's the trade he wants the only options are:
-- A) The Wolves work out a trade with the Cavs
-- B) Love walks next year as unrestricted FA
-- C) Some unknown team gives up MORE than Wiggins and Varejao without ANY guarantee of having Love for more than 1 season. (don't hold your breath)

Cleveland would be stupid to trade for Love withouta guarantee he re-signs and I don't think he wants to play there.

Those aren't good pieces. Wiggins is not proven, Bennett is a bust, Varejao is overpaid and Thompson is OK. That doesn't beat out the GSW offer, not by a long shot.

The picks are the only thing that make it worth considering.......and you're also forgetting you have to take back KEVIN MARTIN, as well as get Love to re-sign.

That kills any deal to Cleveland by itself.

If Lebron goes there, most players would re-sign. Unlikely they can trade, but who wouldn't

Now the real question if Lerbon leaves is whether Riley was in fact prepared for a Plan B scenario. That would be very interesting as well. Would be surprising to see him come out with nothing. However, I think he just played poker and put all his cards on the table and is willing to live with the results. Fascinating....

Well of course, they would have to work that out before the trade

Plus the picks lose their luster, they would more than likely become late round.
I agree. Wolves can do much better, or do nothing at all.
Worst case is they sign and trade him next year.

The problem with this is Minny has already gotten better trade offers with teams Love has said he'd sign with and turned them down.

Love isn't going to limit his options to Cleveland, that's for certain. So all that pontificating was for nothing.
