So now what happens if he resigns with Heat? I guess they go out and overpay anyone in order to get them to fill their roster.

Good point, but (call me crazy) can Kobe resign for a lower salary per year?

No he cant. The CBA rules on renegotiating a contract...

Must be a deal of 4+ years.
Must be in its 3rd year or later.
Must be renegotiated between March 1 and June 30.

Fucking ahole. False alarm.

 When I saw your post, I was literally watching Sportscenter at the same time and thought, either you were screwing with everyone on here or someone was screwing with you. They were literally doing a NY/LA comparison and why 'Melo might choose on or the other.

Not enough money for that, and it's likely not enough money to sign Pau too...but we're out on the Lebron race anyways. It's either Melo, Pau, and possibly Isiah Thomas, or we move on to plan b(which may still include Isiah Thomas)
Yeah, I guess I was just pipe dreaming.

I'm going to say this.......pay ATTENTION to the fact MELO hasn't chosen a team yet.

WHY?

Because he WANTS TO PLAY WITH LEBRON. Now, it might not be feasible.....but he's hedging his bets right now.

Secondly......Cleveland doesn't have the chips to land Love via trade or otherwise, so get that pipe dream out your heads. Minny isn't going to take Wiggins and whatever throw ins over the GS offer, no way no how.

Do the Cavs even want to move Waiters? He's the next D Wade (according to Cavs fans):laugh3:

They like him and would prefer to keep him. The easiest piece to make a Love deal work salary wise would be Varejao... but LeBron played with him in Cleveland and may want him around.

If it was necessary to get Love and LeBron, they'd definitely give up Waiters.

No. Once the contract is signed that's it. Back in the day, a player could do that if they wanted (Magic actually offered to do just that in 80's). But the NBAPA put the kibosh on that quite some time ago. It was at cross purposes with their desire to drive contracts up.

If they just renounce Bosh's rights and sign Anthony that would be pretty messed up to do to Bosh, right? Anthony, LeBron, and Riley would all, to some extent be screwing him over.

Now if Riley can persuade Bosh to go ahead and sign with Houston like its his choice... maybe. Even then, I don't know that there's enough confidence that Melo would come to Miami.

I totally agree, but I think Riley's ego would let him sell his soul to the devil to keep James.

I wouldn't. I'd keep my integrity. I'd keep Wade/Bosh.
Then I'd try to build a roster to kick his ass when the playoffs come around.

Key being, Riley would need a guarantee from Bosh that he would stay without James.
If he won't, then Riley cant be concerned with his welfare.

Yeah, thanks, apparently I'm not up on the current rules of the NBA.

Yeah, unless he's truly as torn as they are claiming, this would be the most likely reason. He knows the Knicks and Lakers offers are going to be there no matter what.

Reports that only folks meeting with Lebron are Riley and Lebron's agent. No Wade, no Arison, No Spolestra. All just reports but interesting.

Completely disagree. Trading away an all-star that is less than a year from leaving town for a #1 pick believed by many to be a franchise type player is a great opportunity.

On top of that the Cavs have plenty of pieces to make the cap room work out just fine.

Let's not forget that Love has a lot of power in where he goes.

If you believe that, I've got a bridge for sale....... ya know....

Just dump players? That's it? No rhyme or reason? Remember, they got absolutely nothing in return for this, except cap space that they did not need. No other marquee FA is looking at Cleveland. They did not need the extra cap space, unless.... ya know.....
