Listen to Profar's at bat on the radio. They just said Profar came into the game to pinch run for Beltre. Nothing about anything being wrong with Beltre.

Kinda strange though.

Rangers' Carlos Gomez: Expects to begin swinging Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Gomez (shoulder) expects to begin swinging a bat Sunday and anticipates returning to game action early next week, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Gomez has been out of action since jamming his left shoulder while sliding into third base Tuesday, though it appears he's ready to get back on the field. The 31-year-old is expected to assume everyday duties in center field this coming season and is putting together a productive spring, with a .344 average and three home runs through 13 games.

Rangers' Tanner Scheppers: Diagnosed with abdominal strain
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Scheppers has been diagnosed with a left abdominal strain and sent for further evaluations, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

The team isn't ruling out a sports hernia, a condition which would set him back for at least a month. Regardless, Scheppers' status for Opening Day is certainly in jeopardy and could open up a larger bullpen role for Alex Claudio or Nick Martinez. Upcoming tests should provide a better estimate as to the extent of the injury.

Rangers' Tyson Ross: Throws live batting practice Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Ross (shoulder) threw a 23-pitch batting practice session Saturday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Saturday marked Ross' second BP session of the week as he continues to work his way back from surgery to correct thoracic outlet syndrome. According to Grant, Ross felt good following Saturday's outing. Ross will likely continue to work in live batting practice sessions for the time being with an eye on returning in early May.

Rangers' Ryan Rua: Continues hot spring
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Rua started in left field and went 1-for-3 with a home run in Saturday's spring training win over Oakland. He's hitting .327 with three home runs this spring.

The left field situation in Texas remains murky as Rua, Jurickson Profar and Delino DeShields have all had good springs and remain in the mix.

Rangers' Delino DeShields Jr.: Remains in left field mix
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

DeShields is hitting .265/.290/.286 with nine stolen bases this spring and remains in the mix to win playing time in left field, the Dallas Morning News reports.

DeShields has drawn 10 walks with a 12:10 K:BB ratio in 59 place appearnces, so his plate discipline is encouraging. The left field situation in Texas remains murky as Ryan Rua, Jurickson Profar and DeShields have all had good springs and remain in the mix.

Rangers' Tanner Scheppers: Will throw Sunday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Scheppers (abdomen) is expected to throw Sunday, Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Scheppers exited Friday's game with a left abdominal strain. No officially timetable has been established for his return, but the team has not ruled him out for Opening Day yet. More updates should hopefully become available in the coming days.

Rangers' Hanser Alberto: Experiences setback, will have MRI
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Alberto suffered a setback with his sore right shoulder and required an MRI on Saturday, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

The Rangers decided to temporarily shut Alberto down after he experienced renewed pain in the shoulder, and his status for Opening Day is now looking like a serious question mark. He'll be reevaluated Monday, at which point the Rangers should have a better idea of how long he'll be sidelined. If Alberto is forced to open the campaign on the 10-day DL, it could aid Drew Robinson's bid for a roster spot.

Rangers' Jurickson Profar: Coming off impressive WBC performance
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Profar hit .464 (13-for-28) with five doubles, one home run, and four RBI for Team Netherlands during the World Baseball Classic.

Once considered the top prospect in all of baseball, Profar has since seen hype subside quite a bit. Despite that fact, the 24-year-old appears poised to be a key contributor for the Rangers in 2017. Due to his impressive positional versatility, he'll be relied upon as the team's main utility player and could end up seeing regular time in the outfield.

Rangers' Sam Dyson: Coming off near-perfect WBC
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Dyson threw six perfect innings over five World Baseball Classic appearances, The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Dyson was flawless throughout the WBC, suggesting any wrist ailment that had been bothering him in early-March is now a thing of the past. It also helps solidify his status as the frontrunner for the Rangers closer position, despite Jeremy Jeffress and Matt Bush waiting in the wings. Dyson may not yet have as long of a leash as other veteran closers, but if he continues to use an upper-90s sinker to induce frequent ground balls, removing him from that role would become increasingly difficult. The 28-year-old was tremendously successful in his first chance as a full-time closer last season, posting a 2.43 ERA while converting 38 of 43 save opportunities.

I'm thinking they might need to move on from scheppers if the guy can't stay healthy again this year.

Saw this over the weekend, thought about posting it.

Evan Grant will be on there tomorrow, and Norm seems to think there's some smoke & fire associated with the rumor. We'll see I guess.

They touched on this for sure. Apparently he ate himself right out of a job. He now weighs in about 260.

But Norm gave out a bunch of stats from last year, especially the 2nd half, and he seemed to think (kinda anyway) that Peralta has "perhaps" figured it out and is posed to have a decent career now. Keep in mind he's only 27.

PS.........This may also be a sign the Rangers are really concerned about Cashner.
