sense it seems the mariners will tank in 2019
why not a ss/utiliy player as a rule 5 guy
like cris torres who was traded to
the marlins or a ss who could
play utility
or a 4th outfield guy

while crawford fills a roster spot
at AAA the mariners need
to get one more and a utility
player....for now

and for insurance on crawford
against a fail
they signed dylan moore..who is interesting
but they need to fire for effect
at ss..and 2b as well
cuz gordan prob will not be there
forever
hedge the bet..at ss and 2b
Don't fret none. Brad Miller, partie deux, is soon coming on a minor league contract. Book it.

If you read the latest report on Seager in MLBTR, then you know that appears we are stuck with him. About all we can hope for is that his sense of pride is violated and he goes on a "Fuck you" mission to prove his worth. I'm not holding my breath.

Yea I saw that. Thought that contract couldn’t get worse. Thanks Jack Z. Not worth attaching to Haniger either

Honestly, I see an All-Star SS with a hefty salary who was a cancer in the locker room and holds all the cards with a no-trade clause in his contract. It's easy for all of us to Monday morning quarterback this trade and assume there was more to be had, but at the end of the day it's all about unloading a contract that does damage in 2021 if he's still in a Mariners uniform. I truly feel that no matter the deal in any trade I will always feel like we could have gotten more, but nine times out of ten we probably get what we were supposed to with most trades.

I may be on an island here, but my focus as a fan is 2021 period. If we fall short on a prospect package here and there it really doesn't bother me to be honest, the fact that we have a clear plan is what has me excited for the next couple of years. The fact that by 2021 there will hardly be any contracts hitting the cap, even if a prospect or two fall flat any new GM that would come in at that point gets to come in with a clean slate because of what JeDi is doing at the moment. He walked into a dumpster fire following Jack Z, either we will be good in 2021 or it'll be a clean slate for the next regime. I like what I see so far.

I'll start the fire then cause I'm with you on it. I think there is a lot more the front office is not saying went on behind closed doors with Segura and I think he would've made it harder with Cano being traded away as well.
I will also say I would not be shocked if Dip is listening to offers at the meetings for Mitch, and if someone is gonna over pay with a ton of prospects he'll pull the trigger on that as well..

i would not be suprised

but i think they need to go a bit
slower at this point and fill in
some holes that were created
from trading

the rotation still does not look good....so far

I could easily see Haniger being traded... He's going to be 28 years old in two weeks... By the time we're competing he would be 31 or 32 yrs old so it doesn't make sense to hang onto him with his value being as high as it is righty now...

jerred kelenic seems to be the new

trade him at the deadline
than now
with a two year window

Exactly. No need to hang on if you get some legit offers.

some future middle of the line up
guys would also start to be of interest
at this point and in the case of a haniger trade

of coarse the mariners can always
free agent it done...i suppose

yeah.... i dont think he will be the only one
starter...maybe
He'll start against right handed pitchers. That's 115 games. They just need a guy who is decent against lefties to start the other 47.

Yeah I really like Mitch Hanniger but his age and value don't fit this team right now.

That said, after the Segura deal they really need to get max value for him. Blue chip prospects

Not willing to part with Haniger, especially if it means it's so we can merely get Seager's money off the books.

At least that report indicates that the Mariners are unlikely to move him with how highly they regard him.

It makes a lot of sense.

A seager for Ellsbury move in some form would also make sense

It's so sad man, M's fans deserve better.... Why can't the @#$^@ing ownership group hire real baseball guy's that know talent ? We're getting rapped by the media for the Segura trade, experts are saying the M's decision is baffling...

To me it’s them just being lazy, after Pat Gillick they hired three GM’s nobody wanted. No one wanted Bavasi or Jack Z. And Jerry had just been fired from an organization that had a hire budget and one of the few teams that had a worse farm system. Then they have given the keys to him saying the Seattle Mariners are now your laboratory.
