I love the Caps. I was a diehard in the 80s and 90s. The cup run was magical. Looks like they have finally found an adequate replacement for Trotz. At this point I'm probably considered a casual. Still....5-1 has a ring to it. Eight minutes. After 4 1/2 periods it was 8-1 Caps and then they thought their poop didn't stink.
Come on Caps, don't blow this.
Very cool. Being older than you I go back even further. As a teen they showed the Hockey game of the week on Saturdays. My friends and I all bought sticks and a puck meant for the street and played daily when it was warm enough. I paint dyed two tshirts one with Canadien colors and one with the Flyers. Then Pollin moved the Baltimore Bullets and got the Caps franchise. Cap Centre was 5 miles from my house. I was there from year 1.I love the Caps. I was a diehard in the 80s and 90s. Pete Peters, Rod.....those were my guys when I started watching the Caps in the 80s on HTS.Very cool. Being older than you I go back even further. The Cup run was amazing. I had been a fan for so long. Love Ovi ..... like other sports I was more passionate when I was younger ..... Gartner and Stevens were the best. Hard to believe it has been 50 years.
I quit rooting for them when they traded Gartner. A bit later they traded Scott Stevens and I rooted against them. They were my two favorite players by a mile. Ovi brought me back.Pete Peters, Rod.....those were my guys when I started watching the Caps in the 80s on HTS.
Still hurts that they traded Gartner for Dino, even though Dino was good for us. The back line of Stevens and Hatcher was so good. This year could be fun.
Rod was like BWags now. He helped give legitamcy to the team ....Pete Peters, Rod.....those were my guys when I started watching the Caps in the 80s on HTS.

Yeah, you're a day one. I'm a child of the blown 3-1 leads. LolRod was like BWags now. He helped give legitamcy to the team ....
Rick Green was originally drafted by the Caps (1st overall) in 1976, and was traded (along with Ryan Walter) to the Montreal Canadiens for Craig Laughlin, Doug Jarvis, Brian Engblom, and Rod Langway. This is when the team became legitimate.
Rick Green was a Richard.
I hate to admit this, but I kinda stopped watching them when the ditched the Red, White and Blue. I don't know why, but I'm a uniform guy. When they played Detroit, I couldn't have cared less. I came back when they went back to the OG uniform colors.I quit rooting for them when they traded Gartner. A bit later they traded Scott Stevens and I rooted against them. Being 6 foot and 145-155 pounds my biggest asset when I played was speed. Gartner was so fast. He won the All Star race year after year. Naturally I gravitated towards fast guys.
My brother (13 years younger) got to play hockey on ice.
Sadly the team did that way too many times.Yeah, you're a day one. I'm a child of the blown 3-1 leads. Lol
