I actually think Malik Jackson is the guy that will shine. It would not surprise me to see him with 8 sacks this year from the DE position.

Especially if teams are more worried about the edge rushers in Von, Ware, and Ray.

Just discovered that Denver signed UDFA LB Efrem Oliphant from Houston.

Diamond in the Rough: Efrem Oliphant - Mile High Report

Surely he is a long shot to make our squad, but he as a very good player the past two years at UH. Hope he makes is with Denver or at least catches on with another team.

First off I like the name Oliphant:). Guy had very good stats last 2yrs for Houston including 2 int in `14. High character and willingness to do whatever he was asked is noteworthy as well. Thanks for that info TD. I got another UDFA to watch and root for especially at a need like ILB spot. Certainly has a shot to make ST and pave his way to a starting job later........ if in a.

I really do hope he makes the team just because I want to hear the announcers say his name. His name makes me think of the old joke "What do you get when you cross a Rhino and an Elephant?" "Eliphino" Sorry bad joke but just got my coffee for the morning. Anyway looks like a high character hard working guy.

What I do love with Kubiak is he is really trying to tie in past Bronco success with today's players. He has been showing them clips of TD, McCaffrey, and I think Rod Smith to show just the kind of success that those late round/UDFA players can have but they have to give their all. From what I understand he is also planning on bringing in guys like TD to speak to the young guys so they can hear his story and just see how it doesn't matter where you were taken or even if you were taken in the draft but if you give your all then you stand a chance of being a part of something great and maybe even becoming great yourself.

It's obviously a pretty dead time of year for Broncos news. None the less, I continue googling Denver Broncos to see if I can find anything at all interesting. Here is a piece that somewhat interests me, in which John Lynch attributes the onset of the Denver Dark Age from 2006 through 2010 to the departure of Kubiak after the '05 season.

John Lynch likes Gary Kubiak's return to Denver Broncos - NFL Nation - ESPN

I guess my main interest in Lynch's opinion is whether Kubiak and his new staff, under Elway's leadership, of course, can finally get us back on top, where we naturally belong.

Also, anxious as I am for the new season to begin, I'm not prepared to get one of these:

Love this article! I forgot that it was after Kubiak left that we went on our playoff drought until the Tebow season. As great of a mind as Shanahan was Kubiak was his Robin to his Batman kind of thing. They worked well together and when you put two genius minds in the same room together magic happens. Man I loved those running games during those years. It just seemed like it didn't matter who we put back there the guy made a star out of the RB. Anderson and Ball could be in for the ride of their lives if they seize the opportunity put before them. Throw in then the pressure taken off Manning to have to do it all.

The other part of that article that still has me fuming some is that of Jake Plummer getting benched. We were 7-4 and yes he wasn't having the best season but then to finish 2-3 and miss the playoffs with a QB that didn't look to hot either just left a bad taste in my mouth. Throw in just the next pick after Cutler was Ngata. I mean can you imagine the difference that guy makes on our defense that went to the crapper after that 2006 season? We could have actually had a decent run defense but instead we drafted a head case for a QB when we already had a high quality starting QB. One of Shanahan's worst decisions that just got compounded more when the next season we took Jarvis Moss. Almost every other pick in the 1st round turned into a decent NFL player.

Now I will admit Kubiak was not quite my 1st choice for HC. I was actually wanting the guy from Detroit as I thought he did a very good job of getting a group of no names other than Suh in Detroit to play as a unit and maximize their ability. Having said that now looking at the staff put together by Kubiak, the relationship that he has with Elway (which I think lead to Elway's best draft since our 1st one with Elway), and the track record of coaches that seem to do better the 2nd time being HC I am just excited to see how this team looks compared to last year. I cannot wait to see what happens on 3rd down and 5 and for once to see us not do a screen pass every single time on that down and distance. It worked for one year where we were able to light up the record book. A full off season of watching our playbook though made us one of the most predictable teams in the league in my opinion.

Pretty cool what Jake Plummer had to say about Brock Osweiler. He said that he could start for about 20 teams right now in the league. Pretty big words from a good quarterback that has actually seen him beyond our small scope.

Makes me wonder whether Brock can also throw a football left handed.

Just kidding, of course.

Haha well right now starting to think the Broncos and those in the know how really do like Osweiler. The fact that we waited forever to draft a quarterback plus now more and more people (other players have spoke very highly of him) keep saying he will be a decent to good starter makes me think he definitely stands a chance. I'm actually hoping if it is possible for the Broncos to give him a full game this year. They have talked about resting Manning and so kind of hoping maybe mid season if our record is looking solid that we can give Manning a game or two off. Heck it happened for Elway and the team went on to win the Super Bowl. The Broncos seem to be trying to build the team in that same fashion as the Super Bowl years so wouldn't surprise me if they give him that kind of chance.

DE, Antonio Smith is being investigated for child abuse.

Not really the offseason news you want to hear about.

Bubby was instrumental in helping us win a SB in '98, but, yeah, he was certainly nothing too special beyond that!

Have to wait and see what happens. If it is found he is guilty definitely wouldn't mind us cutting him one bit. Hate to lose his leadership on the DL but don't think I could cheer for the guy on or off the field if found guilty.

No doubt about that. I thought that Smith was a nice acquisition. Obviously hope he didn't harm a child, though.

Yeah really hoping nothing comes of this. He was one of the best interior pass rushers this past season and really for a good chunk of his career. Seems like that has been an emphasis is for the Broncos to find guys that can get after the quarterback not named Ware and Miller. I think last year the mindset was that those two were enough. Del Rio refused to blitz and refused to really mix anything up when it came to how we tried to get pressure. Scratch that he actually showed some creativity when we were playing mediocre quarterbacks. When we went against the best though he decided that blitzing was the worst thing we could do and would rather drop 7 or 8 guys into coverage every single play. Anyway back on subject I was looking forward to seeing him play as well. Hopefully he still can and that this just comes down to maybe some parent disagreed with something he did but he didn't do anything illegal.

A great example is that of some parents recently got turned into the state because they let their two kids walk to the park and back. An official investigation had to be opened but in the end the parents were found not guilty. It was just a matter of another parent freaking out at the idea that a parent would allow their kids unsupervised to go to the park.

My wife did Child Protective Service work for 3 years so she has seen a lot. Obviously there are some that they are very much needed to step in. A good chunk of calls though are either misunderstandings or another parent freaking out on another. We live in the age where everything gets judged. You spank your kid and somebody sees it who doesn't believe in spanking and next thing you know you are turned into the state. Again hoping that is what has happened here.

Just heard on sportscenter that the allegation is sexual in nature. That does not bode well and I would be surprised if Denver does`nt release him just on that accusation regardless.
