Is it too late for me to jump in?

Definitely Zeppelin. I mean, c'mon dudes. When the Levee Breaks is amazing. Nothing against The Stones.

Oh, and The Cars too. Not even close.

Day 8:

Led Zeppelin: When The Levee Breaks

Rolling Stones: Sympathy For The Devil
Wow.
One of the absolute few times I would not put a Zep song first.
But Sympathy For The Devil is one of my all time favorites.

Gotta go with the Stones!

I agree, to a degree I feel they are both classics. My fave Zep song is Gallo's Pole it doesn't get as much credit as a lot of their other work but I do like when the levee breaks, I guess it's the pounding drums and Plants voice is timesless on so many songs.
yup.

Sorry to hear that.
Losing loved ones is never easy.
Safe travels.
And without trying to spread toxic positivity...remember the good times and don't mourn his passing, celebrate the fact you were able to be friends.

Moody Blues.

I always tell people not to mourn a death, but rather celebrate a life well lived.
When I lost my wife 20 years ago, I found that most of the time, any recommendations tend to be foolish.

2 of my favorites:
"Don't worry, you'll be with her again - hopefully soon!"
"I would have come to the memorial service but I had to take my grandchildren to the circus!"

There was a time when I searched for something positive or inspirational to say in a negative situation. I've come to realize that sometimes saying nothing is best, or something short and benign when saying nothing isn't an option.

For Reb - I know how much I value my close friends - sorry for your loss...

meh on both of these.. Both seem like "time and place" type songs and I was wasn't there at that time in that place. Forced to choose I take Tuesday afternoon, but that may be because I know it.

Sorry for your loss Reb.

Nothing replaces a lost friend. Nothing said can make you feel better about them leaving.
Empty spots can only be filled with good memories and they help ease the pain.

Drive safely and return to your friends here.

I've never understood the fascination with Frank Sinatra. If his voice is special, I just don't hear it. I know this is technically his song (derived from another song specifically for him) but it just seems like anything he sings is a simple cover.

Elton by default.

I may be the only one here that likes Sinatra's stuff. Not all of it but.....

I'll take Elton here - begrudgingly. I really loved his early music, especially Honkey Chateau album......
He was pretty good before he came out......
