That was Southies point. Once they found their side interests their sound shifted a lot. But the pop appreciation followed. My point was the pop following would have gotten board if they hadn't evolved... But I was 0 to 5 when all this was going down. It was never my pop.
well i was 10-15 they evolved which most bands do to stay relevent but lennon and mccarthy were polar opposites its probably why they split:suds:

Beatles are way overrated again right place right time. Their early music was bubble gum bullshit thankfully they found drugs and were able to salvage an otherwise boring career.

Let's be honest. Beatles were a dramatic change from the typical Rock n Roll that was being done at the time. They were a group that also looked different. Weird clothes and long hair. The difference took girls by the short hairs and touched the G-Spot to greater degree than Elvis.

Right place. Perfect time. Perfect music. Perfect look. Above all, Right Management. Think they would be anything but a pub band if they started today??

While this is somewhat accurate, Buddy Holly (and the Crickets, hmmm, Beatles-Crickets?) had a big impact on the Beatles. The same goes for each of their "innovations". They do get points for presenting these, which was their choice, but only partial credit because each was inspired elsewhere (including the hair cut). They are widely credited for innovating with the "two guitar" approach but I'd say that was inevitable (just needed two good guitar players to realize they could play off each other). They weren't just inspired by Holly's sound but his penchant for tweaking instruments and studio tools for a novel sound, which is exactly what the Beatles did to find their "original" sounds.

Pt the Monkees in against any other band and I'll take any other band!

Don Kirshner was dissatisfied with the actor/musicians' musical abilities, and he limited their involvement during the recording process, instead using a stable of professional songwriters and studio musicians to craft multiple hit albums

While that is true, give credit to the 4 for making musicians out of themselves and earning their spot in the culture.... just don't overstate their true impact within music.

The Pusher

The Pusher - It sounds like the era without being a rehash.
I enjoy how the two songs sort of tie into one another The Pusher peddling his drugs and how Snowblind Friend is about the effect of those drugs and the Pusher. I choose Snowblind Friend it speaks of abandonment, and addiction and the loss of love and family just a powerful message to me.

That's one way to get Steppenwolf to win. Bias?
Huh?

I plan on having a few Band Battles during the course of this. If either of these songs had gone against any song by say The Cars I would imagine Steppenwolf would come out on top.

Is Steppenwolf going to be listed as a "winner" if they really got a bye?
