Isn't Namath in the Pro Football HOF take a good look at his numbers
Exactly, he's in there for his impact on the game as a whole and his play at certain moments. That's a perfect comparison to a lot of the performers in the RR HOF. Of course the "exact why" for many is very subjective.

It stood the test of time far better than Belinda and the gangs songs though.
But it wasn't Belinda and the gang, and that's the primary reason they broke up. Charlotte Caffey and Jane Wiedlin wrote the songs and per contract (based on royalties) made most of the money and didn't share. Belinda was really just the face.

Is Cheap Trick on the RR HOF?

Just saw Rick Nielson on American Pickers selling some of his stuff. Never knew he played on Gene Simmons' album when kiss each had their own album

As an aside to music.

Went to the movies last night. I have an Epic Theatres multiplex about two miles from my house.

Saw Brad Pitts' new movie, Bullet Train. I actually rode the Bullet from Yakuska to Nagasaki in 1971. Took two days liberty and went to see the "Honored Grounds" where they have left things untouched since the bomb was dropped and to the museums. Took it back too. Couldn't believe how smooth it was.

The movie.. Stupid plot but I laughed through the entire movie. It's a literal non-stop action and comedic fights. Well worth the $8.83 Senior Ticket. If you haven't got a thing to do, you'll get a kick out watching this one.

Two weeks ago, I went to see Top Gun Maverick. I'm going to see it again at an IMAX. F-16 flight scenes are incredible and not one is computer generated. I got to front seat an F-4 because a pilot needed to get air time for his flight pay. Had my crew wings, just needed to get altitude air qualified in about ten minutes and went up over San Francisco for about 40 minutes. He let me take the stick for 20 seconds over the Pacific at 20,000 feet. It was a trip, but nothing like these newer Mach3 rockets.
The F-4 was a bad bird.
16 world speed records in 1959. From Wikipedia...
To show off their new fighter, the Navy led a series of record-breaking flights early in Phantom development:[4] All in all, the Phantom set 16 world records. Five of the speed records remained unbeaten until the F-15 Eagle appeared in 1975

5 records not broken until 1975 by the F-15, which means they were NOT broken by the F-14.
The F-4 would still be faster than anything the U.S. Navy has in operation today, as the F-35 and F-18 Super Hornet both Top out at Mach 1.6.

He's in there because he guaranteed a win with a poolside grin and won the popularity contest.

So Led Zeppelin was "Robert and Gang"? or The Who was "Roger and Gang"?

They won't give me an F-22 Raptor to fly! Assholes!

The F-35 can fly mach 2 at 50,000 feet. Got this from squadron commander.
If you are up against an F-35 with any other nations jet, It can see you electronically from 100+ miles away and it is invisible to you.
It can take you out at 50+ miles away and climb to 50,000 feet and fly away at a speed no other jet can, it doesn't need afterburners - which don't work at 50,000 feet.

If you are in the F-35, you can fly in to beijing undetected, bomb the shit out of them and get out at a speed they cannot match.
It can control their response electronically and jam rockets aiming systems. It may be able to block nuclear launch capability.
It does not dog fight. It will kill before getting into a fight!

While I am not 100% sure, I believe afterburners work above 50,000 but pilots are supposed to wear the full pressure astronaut suits above that.

I can add that most of the criticism of the F-22 and F-35 is unwarranted.
Unfortunately, the responses to the criticism are classified!

Misconstrue much?
Did I misunderstand your point? Belinda sang the Go Go songs, Robert Plant for led Zeppelin and Roger Daltry for The Who. Each band's songs were either written or had major contributions from other members of the band. All of these bands wrote their own material.

What did I misunderstand about the "Belinda and Gang" comment? Was it supposed to be read as a benign statement and not a true description of the band?

This.
Regardless of whether she was the front and went on to have a more prominent solo career.
Come on now, we can't have it both ways. Carlyles solo career happened only because of the Go-Gos. She didn't write the music she just sang it, both while in the Go-gos and after. Now I'm not taking away what she does do, but other members of the Go-gos had more musical talent.

They were too big for our 1944 wooden deck and the afterburner was too strong for our jet blast deflectors. My opportunity was a million to one shot. Right place at the exact right time. Was checking on a JP-5 test when a Lt Commander came in bitchin' about no pilots or navigators on the entire base. He asked if there were any wings anywhere? I laughed and said, "Helo crewman." He said, "Good enough. Come with me." Thirty minutes later I had a new flight suit, pilot's helmet and specific instructions, "Don't touch a fucking thing." And I was heading for the Golden Gate.

My son, while in Afghanistan working as an escort, gave a ride for an ITT Country Manager.
He asked the manager if he had anthing going. Manager asked if he had any fiber optic experience.
He said no but my dad does. Manager said, "send me a resume"
Manager hired him the nexr day. He had to hire somebody before he could go back to the states.
A month later the new Country Manager was assigning work and asked him, "what do you know?"
He said, "everything I've learned since I got here"
New Country Manager says, "Oh, you knew somebody" and sent him to work.

!5 years later he is a well respected Project Manager doing data cabling.....

Maybe to Go Go aficionados Belinda was just the cute girl in the front (before she got...plump) and all the others had the talent, but to the rest of the world, she's the only name known because she had a solo career as well that put her name out there.

The rest of those girls? I've never heard of them.

But I was not trying to slight them OR offend you. Belinda was just the only name I knew without googleing them.
