Of all the Super Bowl winning teams, which Super Bowl winning quarterback had the weakest team around him?

I don’t know. Pats are very lucky. If they don’t luck into Tom Brady in the 6th round, the Pats are pretty much the Browns or Lions.
There is a bit of a QB dead zone there in the draft for a few years. BB would've done well with Bledsoe for a few years for sure but after that there really isnt a bridge to anything successful. 2010 is where they draft Gronk but I dont really see a bridge from Bledsoe to Gronk so likely...yeah...BB gets fired somewhere inbetween.

It was tough for 14 year old me to watch back then too.

Yup. I was 15.5.

It was a game they never should have lost. It all came back while watching.

We lost with Calvin Hill, Duane Thomas and fucking Bob Hayes.

And big names all over the defence,

Dan Reeves tipped the fateful interception to Curtis. Reeves and Ditka had come in with a special play…

My Dad took me and mom to SB5. Stayed at the same hotel (Gulf Ocean Mile, Tuesday-Friday, have a team picture signed by every player by hanging at the hotel coffee shop for three days, 10 HOF'ers in that team picture) Still have the game pennant hanging in the game room. My dad had emphysema, oxygen tank and all, died in June. Special Super Bowl to say the least. I was 13 at the time.

But would Tom Brady have become Tom Brady if he had been drafted by the Browns or the Lions? The Pats still had Drew Bledsoe in those days. He was one of the top handful of QB’s at that time.

Likely would have. The offensive staff at the time really wasn’t special. They didn’t make Brady.

Bledsoe was hurt and would never be the same player after that injury.

The history is pretty clear:
The Patriots were a poor franchise. They almost left numerous times because of a lack of interest. Boston isn’t really a football town. Then came Brady and incredible success. Now the Patriots are back to being one of the national football league’s lesser franchises as they’ve been throughout the majority of their history.

Exactly. I’m still bitter about the non-holding call on the helmet catch. That cost the Pats a perfect season, too.

Yeah incredible catch no doubt but clear hold.. But one heck of a play
