Rosales doing bis best to sabotage.
Well I guess Green is gone for good. If ESPN hadn't cut their boards then I'm sure that 2 years from now we would be hearing incessantly about how this was a terrible trade because Green finally started hitting .270 as a backup for some other team...
On a more serious note, I find this trade pretty intriguing. Beane said in an interview that we were extremely shallow on the left side of the infield, that we would have been in major trouble if someone like Donaldson or Lowrie went down with injury, and that was the main motivation for the deal. Callaspo essentially replaces Rosales. The only difference between the two is that Rosales was a fair defensive SS while Callaspo can't really play SS. At the plate they are very similar. Rosales has a .247/.333/.390 slash line against lefties this year while Callaspo has a .259/.333/.400 slash against lefties.Callaspo has definitely performed better against righties this season (.646 OPS vs. Rosales .402 OPS against righties), so Callaspo is a bit better in a pinch against a RHP.
As an added bonus, Callaspo strikes out less and walks more (22 SO and 34 BB for Callaspo vs. 31 SO and only 10 BB for Rosales.
The Phillies have made it abundantly clear that they are not trading Utley under any circumstances. Michael Young doesn't have a great bat anymore and doesn't have the range to play second. I highly doubt the Angels would have given up Howie Kendrick for Grant Green (Kendrick also costs well over twice as much as Callaspo).
Hope he never moved,........, or even unpacked.
Adam Rosales' stay in Texas was brief, to say the least. The Athletics announced on Twitter that they have re-claimed the infielder off waivers from the Rangers after he was designated for assignment last week. Oakland will make a corresponding 25-man roster move tomorrow.
The Rangers claimed Rosales off waivers from the A's on Aug. 2, and he was only property of Texas for three days before being designated for assignment once again. Rosales, 30, is hitting .193/.268/.319 on the season. He didn't receive an at-bat during his three-game tenure with the Rangers. The A's could potentially need the extra infield depth, as new acquisition Alberto Callaspo suffered what was thought to be a minor injury in a home-plate collision yesterday.
Too lazy to google, where is Gentry? Is he hurt, or just waiting to play Texas before he starts kicking ass?
