Per @capgeek, Drury buyout will be a 2011-12 cap hit of $3,716,667 and a 2012-13 cap hit of $1,666,667. Ouch

Trying for Mr. Richards is my feeling...still a lot of money for no production.

Looks like they also intend to buy out Wojtek Wolski...Didn't Slats say if he had the budget of the NYR that he would win the Cup every year?!? We're still waiting Glen.

in the summer, the family and I will boat along Lake Okanagan and a local friend there will point out the monster lakefront offseason homes of NHL players ... Linden, Lukowich, Iginla, Josh Gorges

I bet we see Wade Redden letting out a resounding sigh of relief while counting his money in his backyard this summer

I thought Wolski had a good year this season? Maybe it was just the games he played the Pens...

Here's the fun part about buy outs:
HEY DRURY! Wanna come to the Pens for 1mill?! Okay, so...you'll probably have to play winger. Can that happen? You're a right shot, so that's worth the 1 mil alone.

Hey maybe the Habs will copy with Gomez. In a lot of way I like Gomez so I do not want to bust his chops too much, but he is tying up way too much cap with far too little production.

I always liked Drury. For $1 million, it would certainly be worth the gamble. Shero likes to target buy-outs.

You could have said the same thing while he was playing last year.

Maybe Darcy Regier isnt the asshole so many people said he was.

Edit: The Rangers gave top center money to a very good support player.

On the radio today, they were talking about whether or not Drury would be worth bringing back to Buffalo?

I would have to say no, and that the team needs to move forward, not backwards. Drury only worked in Buffalo because of the other players like Briere that were on the team at the time. I don't think he would really fit in right now. But who knows, stranger things have happened before, and he still can provide good leadership.

I have a feeling that he will land in Toronto, even though 43 is hoping that Columbus takes a stab at him.

I said it at the time Boss. The Sabres just wouldn't (and probably couldn't) overpay to keep Drury and Briere. Nor should they have despite irrational pressures some a segment of their fan base.

I remember the Rags making the Gomez and Drury signings and thinking: We lost a year of hockey so the Ranger's could not change one bit?!!?

They just keep throwing good money after bad to ice a middle of pack team.

I personally think that in a no pressure, reduced playing-time role Drury could be a useful player.

I wouldn't mind seeing him picked up on a one-year deal by my Sens. Give him a chance to resurrect his career and flip him for a pick or a prospect at the deadline.

His experience could be good for what is sure to be a youthful Senators team this year.

Actually, the more I think about it...Pitt could be a perfect fit for Drury. Good team with talent and a chance to win, playoff caliber, good lockerroom always open to a bit more leadership, but little pressure on him for the most part (seeing as Sid, Geno, and Fleury pretty much shoulder ALL of that).

If Hudler doesn't pull his head out of his ass, we could use him. (For cheaper than what he thinks he is worth.)

I don't know what goes on in the locker room, but for the past 2 years he has been invisible on the ice. Just a body out there and a complete waste of a roster spot. Avery should be buried in the minors. His usefulness as a player has expired.

I kinda have to agree with this, for an agitator I can't really remember the last time he got under someone's skin and got them to take a penalty. As for Drury, as much as I liked him it had to be done. He still great at killing penalties and he works his but off, but for whatever reason he just can't put the puck in the net.

I really think Drury just needs a change of scenery...and some talent on his line to work with, and he'll succeed. He's still a very hard worker and the talent is there...we've seen it.
