That said...the Mets have options for SS.
Peraza, Villar, McNeil...and heck, even prospect playing in AA for Brooklyn, Ronny Mauricio.

The moment Francisco Lindor signed his multi-year contract, Mauricio -- the Mets’ No. 2 prospect according to MLB Pipeline -- became expendable. The Mets have several needs heading into the Trade Deadline, so dangling one of their top prospects -- especially a 20-year-old shortstop with a high ceiling -- should help them address the holes in the rotation and lineup.

Carlos Carrasco (torn right hamstring) will make his second -- and possibly final -- rehab appearance on Tuesday for Triple-A Syracuse at Trenton. If all goes well, Carrasco could return to the Mets five days after that, despite the fact that he’s not yet fully stretched out as a starter.
Carrasco's return could provide a huge lift for a rotation that just list ace Jacob deGrom to the IL with right forearm tightness. An MRI revealed no structural damage, but the two-time NL Cy Young Award winner will not resume throwing until the tightness has gone away.
