Mets Manager Carlos Mendoza said rookie reliever Dedniel Nunez is expected to be activated from the injured list on Friday. He might have been activated Thursday but his flight to New York on Wednesday following a rehab appearance the night before in Syracuse was delayed and he wasn't able to fly to San Diego with the team. Mendoza said the training staff wanted to check him out in person and see him play catch.


On Deck:

The Mets will continue their four-game series against the Padres on Friday night.
RHP Paul Blackburn (5-3, 4.19) will take the ball for the Mets against RHP Joe Musgrove (3-4, 4.97) for the Padres.

Mets RHP Paul Blackburn, knocked out of Friday night's game when he got hit on his pitching hand by a line drive, will try to play catch Sunday, Mendoza said. That will help determine whether Blackburn can avoid going on the injured list. “Definitely we dodged a bullet there,” Mendoza said.
