The Davis Cup Finals between France and Switzerland was last weekend.

Couldn't watch it then.

Will start watching it now, and over the next 1-2 weeks.

The first singles match is Tsonga-Wawrinka.

Then it's Monfils-FED.

Wawrinka had Break Points on each of Tsonga's first 3 service games. He converted during the 2nd and 3rd Tsonga service games.

He won the 1st set 6-1.

And Tsonga is someone who is top 10 in every ATP service statistic.

Wawrinka surprisingly did a good job at the net.

Late in the set, Wawrinka was 4/6 on net points, while Tsonga was 0-4.

Why would it take you 1-2 weeks to watch it? Just curious.

Tsonga wins the 2nd set.

None of their previous five matches have ever been straight sets, and this one won't be either.

BTW, in the first set, Wawrinka won the winners battle, 9-0.

If I watch all 5 matches (assuming none were dead rubbers), I'm not sure I'll have time to watch this coming weekend, and next week, during the week days, I probably won't have time to watch during those evenings either.

I might not be able to spend consecutive days to watch until late NEXT week.

So I was just thinking about my upcoming schedule, and how much free time I'll have, and how much I can finish if I watch a match a day, on the days I'm able to.

BP Wawrinka.

Tsonga serves it wide, Wawrinka returns it, then Tsonga hits it back wide, out.

Wawrinka up 4-2 in the 3rd.

First point of the game on Tsonga's serve, Wawrinka's ball is called out.

Tsonga looks at the mark, declares it in, and gives the point to Wawrinka, as a sign of sportsmanship. He then wipes the mark away.

Set and match point to Switzerland, 15-40 Tsonga's serve, 5-2 set score.

Wait, this might be a best of 5, so the above might have just been set points.

Anyways, Tsonga serves and brings it back to deuce.

Wawrinka won the 4th set 6-2.

After he got the 2nd break, the broadcaster Gimelstob shouted "Stan is the MAN!"

After Wawrinka won the match, he pointed to his head with two fingers, then to his box. As if to say, he was focused, played a smart game, and was emotionally stable.

During the post-match interview, he said "I wanted to show that I'm not # 4 in the world for nothing." And he commented (implied) on how there was a lot of focus on Roger and his back, but he (Wawrinka) was there too and wanted to play a role.

Also, more is revealed about happened last week during the FED-Wawrinka SF match. During one of the match points Wawrinka had, Wawrinka didn't like how loudly Mirka was cheering, and took a few steps in her direction. The umpire said "No Stan, no, no."

After the match, Wawrinka and FED talked about it, and Wawrinka also felt she cheered too loudly during the Wimbledon QF match between them too.

It looks like Wawrinka and FED are fine now, this Davis Cup is too important. Plus they have a history of being friends.

I'll try to post a video clip of the World Tour Finals incident later, but I don't want to do a search right now, as I might stumble upon Davis Cup spoilers.

Had a weird dream last night that all mens slam matches had been reduced to best of three. In the dream I was following one of Fed's matches and I saw him celebrating after going up 2-1 sets and I was like "what's going on"?

Monfils gets the break, 3-1.

Monfils 2nd serve ace up the T, deuce.

Monfils wins the 1st set 6-1.

It was closer than the score indicated.

During the last game, FED said to Monfils, while Monfils was serving, "How many times are you going to start and stop your service [motion]"?

Monfils was stopping a few times because the crowd noise was too much.

FED saves 2 BPs (one by a Monfils error) to bring it to deuce.
