Anyone else think he was a lock for Doak Walker finalist? I am very surprised he didn't make it.

Ameer had to be close.

Andre Williams HAD to be on there. If he was not a finalist it would be a travesty.

Carey was considered a top running back before the season started. Since PAC 12 is considered to be a tougher conference it helps. He has not done anything to disprove it.

I am guessing Sankey is on there because the PAC 12 has better defenses. But if the PAC 12 defenses are so good, how come two running backs from the PAC 12 are having great years? I will guess media bias here, not media bias overtly for the PAC 12, but the media bias against the B1G in general.

The other finalist are also good but Ameer has like 50-80 less carries as those guys, if we gave him another 2 games worth of touches he would be nearing 2k yds

Ameer is the best Running Back in the country.

He just doesn't get the attention that the other guys do. Sankey, for instance, had a whole special done on him because his Grandpa was blind until this season and they did surgery on his eyes allowing him to see his Grandson play for the first time.

Nobody knows about Ameer because we haven't really been in the spotlight in order for him to shine.

exactly :agree:

but when we get in the spotlight we stink up the place so people write off our players . even tho AA is putting up great numbers

Maybe a little selfish of me but, I'm kinda happy he got left off. If he were on the list, his draft stock would be a lot higher and it would make his decision to return for his senior season a little harder. Just think what he could do with a healthy and experienced line blocking for him... If he comes back, I believe he will be a preseason top 10 candidate for the Heisman.

Ameer is a grind it out type feature back. A 20 carry kind of back. Good for 5, 8. 12 yds.

He doesn't break a lot of long runs. (particularly ones that get called back)

He is the first Nebraska RB since Ahman Green to reach 1,000 yds in 8 or fewer games.

In spite of the play calling, and absolutely disorienting substitution schedule, he has managed to do very well, Ahman Green type well, let's just say kindly our current line isn't quite what it was back in Ahmans day

I personally think he is all around better than Ahman.....

Ahman was absolutely great, and his career in the pros proves it. But he never needed to fight for yards at any point in his career the way that Ameer has had to. The fact that Ameer is running for over 100 yards in every single game this season is absolutely ridiculous.

Sidenote.....Lawrence Phillips was the best Running Back to ever play at Nebraska. Unfortunately, he was also a psychopath.

It was implied ;)

LP is down in history as one of the 2 the biggest dumbfucks that have ever played the game, he too had the same gravy train line that AG ran behind

What's even more insane is that Ameer is doing all of this with a sprained ankle.

That is complete mind over matter. Sprained ankles take away so much power and agility.......somehow he finds a way though. It is remarkable.

Much of Ameers runs come off the cutback or him changing the gap, improvising due to our line being smashed up together like butt cheeks
