Oh, I'll be awake. Family tradition has become shopping from 5am-2pm. I'm cutting us short this year!

Urgh...only a few things I'll wake up that early for that aren't work. The only recent event I can remember is tailgating for a noon Pitt game.

I'll get up at 6am to drink...

One thing I've noticed a lot this season is Crosby or Malkin will be fighting for the puck in the corner in the offensive zone, and whatever random grinder they are with will be waiting in the opposite corner or behind the net for the pass and Crosby and Malkin will throw it to the goal mouth, resulting in a missed chance. Seems like a big difference in the way Crosby/Malkin and random grinders think. They need to get on the same page with that shit.

I'll only wake up that early if the sunrise is going to be worth seeing. So like twice a year.

I kind of want to see Rypien and Engelland drop the gloves.

Big hit by Ballard. Good use of leverage. Nice display of balance by Malkin, though.

For being a new arena and having a good ice system the ice itself has been atrocious so far. Puck has been bouncing like a tennis ball.

One of the smaller stories of the year is how shitty the ice has been. The NHL's ice czar was in town last week, I believe. Apparently it's a fairly common problem when it comes to new arenas...finding the right balance and shit (I wouldn't know...), but it's been disappointing. And has been pointed out by the knowledgable radio personnel of the city, having bad ice with players like Crosby and Malkin is just shooting yourself in the foot. Needs to be corrected ASAP.

Brooks Orpik has looked great tonight. I haven't seen much from him since he's come back from injury, but it seems he finally has his edge back. I love seeing him hit those passes deep from his own zone all the way up to neutral ice.

Keep it up Brooksie!!!
