I'm not good with smiley faces...

That's nothing to frown about.

He was 4th among forwards. Cooke and Dupuis had higher TOI because they kill penalties.

Five penalties (one being shortened) isn't that many. It's not that I think he should have more ice time than Cooke or Dupuis, just at 16 minutes and a handful of change is less than your second best forward should see unless you're killing eight or more penalties. I think his faceoffs + fancy play when we're up in the game was part of the reason.

I agree with him. People look at results. The power play could be awful, but get a lucky bounce and score and folks will think the power play is good. The Pens have been generating some very good chances on the power play and just not have been able to capitalize. There power play is much better now then it was at teh beginning of the season when everyone was skating around all over the zone. They need to continue what they are doing and the goals will come.

24th in the league with 13%...I can't agree with that. Yes, it has looked better. But this PP isn't once bounce or two away from being good. It's about four or five bounces away from being mediocre. I just don't like that response. Say things need to be better. Say there needs to be improvements and changes. Because I don't think there are many people who would agree that if the PP stays exactly as it is, it will rise to the cream of the crop (where it should be).

Good job, good chances, need to execute better, results will come, blah blah blah.

Crosby's been saying that about any aspect of his/their game that slumps since he was 18.

Don't put too much stock into what he tells the media. He's been trained to deal with those vultures. That's why he sounds like a robot most of the time, which is far from his attitude on the ice and in the locker room.

He might believe that, he might not. But he's basically repeated that exact phrase 800 times.

His problems with face-offs probably had something to do with it. His poor decision making at times is nothing new and never impacted his TOI before. I just think the Pens had a game plan, all lines had a job to do, and they stuck to the game plan. Being short handed cut into his playing, evident by the only two forwards that had more ice were penalty killers... besides Crosby. It is what it is. No big deal.

side note: I was upset that Connor got the call over jeffery, but he has played quite well. I wonder if Comrie will be looking for a new team in the near future?

Cooke, Dupuis and Kunitz all had more even strength ice time than Malkin. Hmmm.

That is looking at just results. The Power Play is looking better and better. They generate a lot... have good zone time. The goals will come.

Dupuis and Kunitz play with Sid, no surprise they have more even strength ice time. Cooke is Malkin's winger and had 5 seconds more... to me that sounds like he stayed on the ice for 5 more seconds. Ice time was pretty even across the board, minus Sid, and I think that is because each line had a specific responsiblity. I don't think there is anything to read into this.

I don't think there is much to read into it. But Malkin typically gets over a minute of even strength time on ice more thank Dupuis and Kunitz, so something was different about tonight. Probably nothing important. Just sayin...

not a great game by either team. a worse one for the canucks they should have lost probably 5-1. everyone looked tired. no fight except for bieksa in one bout and one punch really.

luongo for all his glory as a "elite" goaltender continues to embarrass himself with his puck handling skills or lack-thereof. really Lou you are making $10M a season this year why the fuck cant you work on that in the off season. really its incredibly frustrating to watch.

we had no support from bottom lines. our PP was pathetic and they looked like they were already on the plane. Pens deserved the win outright and probably deserved a couple more if not for bad ice and a couple good saves by our Dmen.

congrats Pens.

thank goodness for home ice for us this weekend.

Canucks need to learn to win on the road this season or it will be a short playoffs.

So I just got back from dinner, and i know the score.
is there anything worth watching in the last 40m?

guys on the radio were talking about how shitty the ice was,
that it made it a pretty ugly game to watch.

the radio guys loved the new rink though ... aside from the vantage point the broadcast booth is at

I was driving around during the first period and about 4 or 5 minutes in Shorty said to DCMP (thomlinson) that its looks like its gonna be one of those nights because the canucks were making mistakes and he figured there were more to come ...

The crosby goal call coming out of the box was a nice boasting one ... after the "scores" call, Shorthouse proudly said "well its a game of mistakes and the canucks just made one"

I was also listening to the radio and I realize it's going to take some time for Dave Thomlinson to develop chemistry with John Shorthouse, but I miss Tommy Larschied.

Always tough to replace an icon, but Dave seems really nervous on the broadcast.

and btw the stat of the day if not mentioned before is that when the canucks dont score a power play goal in a game its an almost automatic loss ... only 2 wins to show

Dave is good on radio when he has a little time to think but during a broadcast you have to be able to go with the flow and with your experience watching that team in and out for as long as Tommy did. Dave is decent and very knowledgeable but I loved Tommy's honesty and passion for this team. Dave is a good company guy that wont really break down on the canucks when they deserve it and the Fans want to hear it from someone who is so close to the team.

i dont think he's folksy enough but then again hes not over 65 ... too much analysis not enough entertainment right now

when he was doing the afternoon radio show he had time to lay out some great stories and anecdotes about stuff he encountered during his career ... he's struggling about where to work that element into a game broadcast right now

I think a great story for the listeners would be how he earned the nickname DCMP lol
