Game Thread: Now the Hated A's...7/25-27

The Astro's tried to totally strong arm Springer into a long term deal. And then sent his to AAA as punishment.

I don't know what players who are being talked about here, but this one got screwed and everyone knows it.

Plus, they certainly fucked up the draft like no-bodies-business.

They are mad that Appel got promoted to AA despite sucking and was asked to do a bullpen session at MMP to see if they could spot a problem in his mechanics. It was apparently the final straw and they aren't happy with the FO. I don't like the Astros organization, but I find it kind of funny that the players aren't buying in to the obvious strategy they are going for there. You don't get called up by the Astros and expect to win 90 games.

The players had to know what they signed up for when they inked the contracts right?

On another matter, it was really cool watching Cox, Glavine and Maddux get inducted into the HOF today. Braves are not my team, but I had the privilege of watching these three for many years, and it's great to see them get inducted together.

Perhaps. But just because someone signed the only contract they had available doesn't mean they're necessarily in love with any and all moves by the front office.

I'm just thinking the FO is not doing themselves any favors by pulling all the crap they've pulled in the last 12 months or so, and most players, potential FA, and "all the agents" have Houston on their radar and for all the wrong reasons.

Nobody leaves quicker than Miami Heat fans. During the finals, they shelled out 1000's of dollars for those tickets and bailed quickly. If the Rangers were in the World Series and getting beat badly, I'd at least stay and watch if I paid big money for a seat.

The draft stuff is really the only misstep I see by them. Offering to help Appel figure out his problem en route to Corpus by throwing a bullpen session seems smart. Why wouldn't you invest in your prospects?

But even if you don't like what the FO does you still know better when you sign the contract. They aren't going to field a team that is capable of winning for another couple of years. So to whine about that when you knew so going in seems pretty dumb.
