Not much. The head of the dragon and his butt sniffer are still there. I think the last 6 years drafts have been pretty good. Not great but pretty good.
What I did like was drafting Montez Sweat. If I had a choice my number one desire going into the draft was another impact DE/OLB. I think if this team is going to win they need to do it with defense.
As far as offense if we hit on a WR or two that would be huge. I don't like either of our QBs. I think the team has regressed in the past two years Case McCoy<Alex Smith<Kirk Cousin's. Hopefully Haskins is an improvement on all of them in 2020. If not draft a QB again next year. Unless Smith can come back we probably need to do that anyway. My guess is McCoy and Keenum are gone after this year.
If you are suggesting drafting another QB in the mid rds next year then I have no issue with that. He could be a good backup or possibly even a miracle pick (ala Wilson, Brady, Cousins, etc). However if you are suggesting taking a QB with a 1st rd pick then I would have to say Hell No.
You can't evaluate a rookie QB simply on 1 year. Haskins may or may not pan out well this season or it is even possible that he rarely or never sees the field (doubt it). The Redskins have to get out of this mindset of either obtaining immediate results or moving on from a player. Different players take different amounts of time to develop. If players were only evaluated on a single season then a player like Goff would never have had a chance to show his skills. Oh well - perhaps I am misreading your reply (especially when you referred to Haskins play in 2020 - not 2019). In any case the Skins need to show an extreme amt of patience with all of their young players.
BTW - I realize that Gruden may not feel this way, and I would not blame him. However the overall organization needs to view things differently.
Why??? I think they got to see what Haskins can do this year at some point at least 8 starts. If they can get Fromm or Tua next year with a top 10 pick and Haskins didnt show much in 8+ starts it is a no brainer.
Only reason I dont think Haskins was a bad pick is because they didnt trade up for him, and because 2019 draft class was so incredibly weak why not swing for fences with pick? As long as you dont let anything in 2019 draft handicap you from what you do in a real more "normal" draft class of 2020.
Cardinals gave up on Rosen (bad move) after 1 year and Rosen is 10x the prospect that Haskins was. QB is most important position on field. Gotta get it figured out and cant be afraid to make a mistake or cut your ties.
I did not stipulate. Follow some teams (the Eagles) and see what they did to get that top notch QB. If somehow Jake Fromm was available to you would you say no?
Sorry if you disagree but unless you are convinced you have your guy you are still looking for a guy. I am not saying we should use the No. 1 but you should always be looking to upgrade your talent … at every position.
In the end the team is going to need another QB if Haskins is the man. Colt Keenum are FAs and I don't expect to see A Smith back.
You have got to be kidding me. So teams should throw a rookie on the field (perhaps with a team w/ issues on offense like the Skins & possibly when there are major injuries) & then decide at the end of the season whether he is their long term answer? LOL. Do you realize how many good to great QBs had subpar rookie seasons? Using your logic Goff would have been kicked to the curb after his rookie season & if so I doubt that they would have been in the SB last season.
Rosen is "10x the prospect that Haskins was"? Whatever you say chief. I guess that is why so many teams lined up at the Cards door to trade for him. You already compared Haskins to Campbell which is a joke & you said he has a slow release which proves that you don't know shit about him. I will bet you whatever you like that Haskins does much better than Rosen in the next 4-5 years. We will see.
The main thing is that you are advocating a no patience approach which is exactly the issue with Snyder, Allen & others in this organization. You can't keep planning on a season by season basis if you are hoping for long term success. You must play way too much Madden football.

A little long but when you get a chance watch this video - it will give you a very good summary on the pros and cons for Haskins. He breaks down the cons just after the 6 min. mark. The issue does not appear to be a late release but rather a not so tight spiral & some footwork. However this guy indicates that all of his issues are correctable given the rt coaching situation. This guy is extremely coachable & will put in the necessary time.
Towards the end the guy in the video indicated that guys like Rodgers & Brady had major issues when they first entered the NFL & worked them out. We will see, but all indications here are that given some time Haskins can be very successful in the NFL. A lock? No but hardly anyone is at that position.

Being a Penn State fan I am very familiar with their game against OSU and Haskins. Penn State was dominating the game and Haskins did not look like much at all. The Buckeyes went to the screen game and everything changed. Penn State couldn't defend it and then as mentioned gave up a 96 yard drive on three screen plays. The announcers were going crazy but I thought the biggest reason Ohio State won was Franklin and his DC did not adjust to a simple screen game.
Long story short, I am happy the Redskins drafted this kid but I don't think he is ready yet. I am much more excited about Sweat and a couple of other guys at least for this year. Long term Haskins might be good.
