down, you see this:
Garin Cecchini is batting .346/.457/.513 with 16 runs scored, seven doubles, two home runs and 19/16 K/BB in 21 games since a promotion to Double-A Portland in mid-June.
The 22-year-old third baseman was arguably the hottest hitter in the minor leagues over the first half of the season, posting a 1.016 OPS with 28 extra-base hits, 15 stolen bases and 34/43 K/BB in 63 games for High-A Salem. A left-handed hitter, Cecchini manages the strike zone as well as any hitter and has quietly hit his way up the organizational ladder since the start of the 2012 season. Although he lacks the power typically associated with a third baseman, his ability to hit for average and get on base at a favorable clip should help him reach the major leagues at some point next season. See it? No...but I'm up to speed on him this year...
And the power will come...he's 6'3 200lbs...once he's in his mid to late 20's? He's got 20-30 hr potential. Getting a lot of "left handed David Wright" comps from scouts right now...
keith law, after leaving him off his preseason top 100, has him in his top 25 midseason...
Sox prospects had him 8th or 9th at the start of the year....he's 3rd now behind Xander and JBJ...
