I love this thread. Nebraska takes pride in what we've earned, won. Other teams? They look for some sort of moral enthusiasm in losing.

Actually, what's really pathetic are dumbfuck NU fans ridiculing Wiscy for hanging a banner from a BCS bowl they played in when we all know NU's has been program will never sniff a BCS bowl or another national championship, at least until the B1G allows NU to offer scholarships to dumb fuck illiterate partial qualifiers again, which made their program relevant way back in the day. For the record, that asterisk was added by a member of the Austin American Statesman media if I'm not mistaken and was taken down by Mack Brown. We then went on to win the Fiesta Bowl that year.

You do realize that the rules were in place to allow only TWO academic Qualifiers per year. Nebraska played by the rules. Just about all Texas players were academic qualifers, they were just allowed to some how pass classes. Say hello to exhibit one, Vince Young.

How come Texas DEMANDED academic standards for the formation of the Big 12, but was either 11th or 12th in academic graduation rates almost every year. If it were not for Oklahoma, Texas would have been last in the Big 12 in Graduation Success Rates or Academic Progress Reports.

Did you know Deloss Dodds got on the NCAA Committee to change the standards because Texas players were annually not making the grade according to the NCAA. Deloss learned how to game the academic system to get all those smart players like Vince Young to be able to play four years at Texas.

If Texas was adamant about academics, how come Texas does not lead in Academic All Americans? Wouldn't you think that the University of Texas, which loves to brag about their castrated cow, would love to brag about leading in Academic All Americans. Nope, but Texas does love to brag about being the last all white team to win the mythical national championship, luckily Nixon needed votes.

Texas is always the school that says "Do as we say, not as we do."

Texas destroyed the Southwest Conference and Texas tried and still could destroy the Big 12. It got so bad that on September 3, 2011 OKLAHOMA threatened to leave the Big 12. This was already after Colorado left, Nebraska left, A&M was leaving, and later Missouri did leave.

You know why Brady Deaton recused himself from being in charge of the Big 12, he had heard enough of the crap that Texas was doing behind the back of everyone. How come at this time the remaining members got together and DEMANDED Dan Beebe be fired because he was Texas's boy toy?

Texas realized that once Oklahoma threatened to leave the Big 12, Deloss Dodds and Bill Powers personally FLEW to Norman with money to give to Oklahoma to stay in the Big 12. They promised Oklahoma a Sooner Network from their buddies at ESPN, the true power that kept the Big 12 together.

Of course, with the failure of the Longhorn Network, Oklahoma won't be earning the same amount of money from that Sooner Network, it will be around $2,000,000 and it won't be from ESPN.

Texas might think they own the Big 12, but Texas realized if Oklahoma did leave the Big 12, Texas would have been in a world of hurt. Texas won't have many marquee games against Kansas, K State, West Virginia, North Texas, and Texas Tech.

BTW, Oklahoma left the Texas Conference back in the 1920s for some reason.

lmao.. It's been a long time since you've taken pride in Nebraska football apparently.

Pride?

They have enough pride not to hang stadium banners for bowl losses. There is nothing in the stadium even remotely referencing the 1941 or 2002 Rose Bowl losses. If they were to put "1941** Rose Bowl ** 2002" up, someone ignorant would assume they'd actually won them, and the informed Nebraska fans would raise holy hell to take it the fuck down. That's pride.

There is nothing even referencing the multiple Orange, Sugar, and Fiesta Bowl 'WINS' in Nebraska stadium. Why would there be? If it's not the National Championship game, bowl winners just get trophies and those trophies go into cases. Bowl losers get nothing. There aren't placards in between trophies for bowl losses saying "We participated In". LMAO

Unless you're Wisconsin apparently, then you banner your stadium with the 6 losses to go along with the 3 wins to make a nice looking total of 9, no matter that the trophy case has just 3. It's misleading and LAME.

I just turned on ESPN to see what they would be showing on TV this Sunday late afternoon and hey I was surely surprised it was Womens College Bowling. The NCAA championships! Is this even a sport and did anyone else even know that there was an NCAA championship for bowling?

Oh and just to inform you Sam Houston State is leading Nebraska so it looks like Nebraska will miss out on another National Championship.

I wonder what big dollars the college bowling coaches get paid?

You have to love how somehow posting that we made the Rose Bowl when, you know, we made the Rose Bowl is some sinister plot to lure recruits in by lying. Yes, I'm sure that was the point as opposed to celebrating the fact that we made the Rose Bowl.

And somehow, a banner for making the Rose Bowl isn't something we earned. It's like Nebraska's fans think Rose Bowl berths are handed out at random.

God, it'll be hilarious when we kick your ass again this year.

This thread is just dumb.

Coach Andersen made it pretty clear that the spring game was going to be different than years past, and from most other spring games. The entire first half was basically just a scripted no-tackle walk through of sorts, and the second half was a more realistic scrimmage with most of the big time guys sitting. If you can't understand why most UW fans didn't bother showing up on a shitty day that's your own problem. Even the staff didn't seem to care what kind of show they put on for the public. UW doesn't need to sell out a spring game to make ends meet.

As for the Rose Bowl banners, who gives a shit? Barry can put whatever the hell he wants on that stadium.

I never really saw the allure of the Rose Bowl. Only Big 10 champs (regardless of record) were allowed to play on one side. Only Pac 10 champs (regardless of record) were allowed to play on the other. They were limited to 20 teams.

There were far more National Championships won in the Sugar and Orange Bowls than the Rose.

USC owned the Rose Bowl anyway when it came to National Titles.

Big 10 Rose Bowl National Champions since 1960.

Minnesota (1960) LOST to Washington in the Rose Bowl
Mich St (1965) LOST to UCLA in the Rose Bowl
Ohio St (1968) BEAT USC in the Rose Bowl
Michigan (1997) BEAT Washington St

You're proud enough of that to banner the walls of your stadium with LOSSES?

PAC 10 Rose Bowl National Champions since 1960

USC (1962) BEAT Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl
USC (1967) BEAT Indiana in the Rose Bowl
USC (1972) BEAT Ohio St in the Rose Bowl
USC (1974) BEAT Ohio St in the Rose Bowl
USC (1978) BEAT Michigan in the Rose Bowl
USC (2003) BEAT Michigan in the Rose Bowl

The Orange and Sugar Bowls were tied to either the Big 8 or SEC champs, but their opponent was always the next best available.

Who cares about the rose bowl banners? Seriously. Not sure why there is a barrage of Husker fans trying to belittle Wisconsin. Maybe that 70-30 loss in the big ten title game a couple years ago still stings? Who knows?

Bingo. Ever since we welcomed them to the B1G with a nice ass kicking (Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Wisconsin Badgers - Recap - October 01, 2011 - ESPN), then did it again the next year (Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Wisconsin Badgers - Recap - December 01, 2012 - ESPN) it seems like every husker fan out there takes every chance they get to belittle Wisconsin's football program. Like we don't know our football program was shit until 20 years ago. As of now, our football program is head and shoulders above Nebraska. And our basketball program is head and shoulders above Nebraska. And the majority of Wisconsin fans really don't give a rats ass about Nebraska.

Yes, it's redundancy at best and fluff to give a false sense of pride.

I Googled a pic that showed all of the Rose Bowls they have listed in their stadium.

1953 - LOST to USC (0-7)
1960 - LOST to Washington (8-44) LMAO
1963 - LOST to USC (37-42)

1994 - WIN over UCLA (21-16)
1999 - WIN over UCLA (38-31)
2000 - WIN over Stanford (17-9)

2011 - LOST to TCU (19-21)
2012 - LOST to Oregon (38-45)
2013 - LOST to Stanford (14-20)

So of the 9 listed, only 3 were wins.

See when it says, "Rose Bowl", you assume those are Rose Bowl wins. Maybe that's what they are going for

What's lame is that Wisconsin posts Rose Bowl LOSSES in their stadium like they're some kind of accomplishment. :L

Putting up Big 10 Championships is fine. Everybody does that, as that's an actual accomplishment. I guess if you're digging for something positive you have to dig far and wide to post bowl game losses.

Nebraska lists the 5 National Championships they've actually won in their stadium. If they were to list the National Championships they actually played for (where if they'd won they'd have been declared champs), that list would grow to about 13. However they don't do that because it would be LAME.

Real recognizes real and Wiscy's lookin' kinda unfamiliar.
