Cyril Richardson has been taken. Don't know why he fell this far but it was a nice pickup by Denver this late.

That's a crazy good pick this late. Last draft I had to trade up to get him 1st pick in 3 rd round - and was told after he would not have lasted a few more picks.

Question for the GM's .... any of you about to choose McCarron at the end of the 3rd or early 4th?

Truth be told i was thinking of him if he lasted till the 4th. can always use a real good backup you know

I don't much care for McCarron myself, he seems like a little mamas boy and i'm not impressed with his arm strength and believe he will never be anything but a backup.

yea but really good quality backups are not that easy to find.

but i actually think in the right offense he could be pretty good. a run based offense like HOuston, Baltimoreect... would be ideal fits imo

My list had Richardson quite a ways down but McCarron was dead on although as we mentioned last night everyone's lists are different. Just strange how they could be this far off....although it's a deep draft could be the reason.

A.J. McCarron and why a Patriot ? ... because of Ryan Mallett.

1. This years crop of QB's is underwhelming
2. Mallett has been THE only backup to Brady for 2 years so most would assume Belicheck has faith in him.
3. Mallett is in the last year of his CHEAP Rookie contract.
4. He'd come cheaper than a 2nd rd pick (that has not 3 years experience behind Brady w/ Belicheck)
5. Any QB w/ desire would want to play. Behind Brady he won't .... he'd likely not re-sign w/ N.E.
6. The 1st 7 teams in rd #2 need QB's

Mallett becomes a sliding WR or someone like a Hageman or Jace Amaro via a draft day trade.

And McCarron I believe w/ 4 yrs at Alabama could run the ship as a rookie in an emergency (Brady injury)

note: the Pats have used precious limited player visits on Manziel, Bridgewater, McCarron, and Logan Thomas.
