Rotterdam: Simon over Murray (tired?) in straight sets. 2,4
Berdych (Berdman flying high) over Monfils in straights 1,4
So these two meet next
And the other side is prolly Stan vs Raonic
Stan has to beat hot guy Muller first and Raonic needs to get past

Dubai also starts in about a week I think.

So its Raonic vs Stan.
just read that Murray had a mental breakdown in his loss. This gets in his way of winning more slams obviously. So steroids or not what Nadal and Fed have done is that much more impressive considering how much mental control you need to have to win in a fortnight.

Would like to see Raonic start showing more gusto, but Stan is not going to be around forever so I would not mind seeing him win either.

Hope its a good match for both. I expect Berdych to beat Simon.

Amazing how dominant Young and Monfils were in the Juniors and yet they can barely make a dent at the pro level.

Discipline is the bridge between a goal and achievement. And they lack it big time at the pro level.

At least Monfils is ranked and was able to make deep rounds in some majors. Young outside of 1 run at the US Open, don't think I can recall him ever making it to the 2nd week of a major

Congrats to Stan.

His season is off to a great start.

Young's also 5'11, 160 pounds max (they can list him at whatever they want, but people who have seen him live know this). It's tough to win like that, and Young was never allowed to adapt his game to the pros since he got so many wild cards. He was a major failure for awhile, but if he can settle in to a ranking between 35 and 75 for several years (which seems possible), I don't see Young as a complete failure.

bouchard strikes me as another who may have bought into her own hype too much.

she's better than sloane stephens, but no by much.

bouchard's movement is about the same as ivanovic or sharapova (so not great), and she doesn't hit off the ground as hard as either of them. her serve is weak. i just don't buy into the hype around her.

of course, the wta is so weak right now, she might just have enough to win a major. who knows.

young isn't a failure at all, imo.

he has a big lefty forehand. nothing else. he could work forever on that backhand and serve, and still not get them to even a top 50 level.

even if he put in the same amount of work/training off the court as top players, i don't think he would have much better success at majors or in the rankings. he may not have completely maximized his limited gifts, but calling him a failure is something only a casual fan would do.

unless harrison and sock start working their fat asses off a bit more, i consider them to be worse failures by far than young.

I'm not certain she bought into the hype as much as fans have.

I just don't see her even coming close to last year's results and I'd be surprised if she's still top 10 at year's end.

On the other hand, Madison Keys looks like she has the stuff.

Still too early to tell on Genie yet. I think this year will give us a better idea. If there is no change in her game then we know she is not doing what she needs to do to get better. I think her movement is better than Sharapova for sure, but she needs more power especially on her serve.

WTA sorely.needs Genie! The sisters (with the manliness) and Maria with her shrieks have turned off many fans to the game including myself.
