I have pointed out the facts in regards to the most prolific passing seasons not ending up in a SB victory for any of them.

Hell, the top 8 most prolific offenses in history all did not win it all. Out of the top 10 most prolific offenses ever the 1999 Rams was the only team that did win it all.

Just remember, there will be a team that will figure out the rubicks cube that is the Broncos offense. It will happen. Count on it.

Will Von Miller make that big of a difference? I sure as hell hope so, cause right now this defense is shit. No other way to put it.

I am very happy with the balance that they are committed to. I like the production of Moreno.

Yes, the Chiefs continue to greatly concern me, and they ought to greatly concern you too.

I would not go so far as to call the defense shit. I think it has some issues but it has also been ravaged by injury and will need time to come together again. (Think about the ravens last year) We have seen some terrible defenses in the past and this one is still better than those. Teams are not really running against us whether that is because of the #1 ranked run defense or due to being behind, this is forcing more passes. Our secondary needs to get healthy and we need to get a good pass rush going to get a more complete team.

For those bitching about the defense, what do you want them to do to fix it? I keep seeing complaints on it but other than that no thoughts on how to fix it.

As for great passing offense winning SBs, most of the time they are not very complete teams. They tend to have weaker defenses and weak run games. After that all it takes is for the QB or receivers to have a down day and you are out. The broncos do have a run game, not the strongest but it is there. The broncos have a good special teams unit. The broncos have a good run defense. So, all that leaves is getting the pass defense in order and avoiding this injury bug that seems to be plaguing us.

In the end, it's just football, so no, I'm not ever going to be "Greatly concerned." That's the team's job to worry about the Chiefs, not mine. Makes no sense to place so much angst and concern over something that is out of my control. And I, for one, am not going to simply write off Denver's SB chances just because of some stats from history. NFL is like the stock market: Past performance does not guarantee future results. :noidea:

I also don't see the reason to follow a "doom and gloom" path with a team that's currently 6-0. That's 6-0 with a beat-up defense; a defense who has yet to allow a single 100-yard rusher. It's a defense that for the first time this season should be at or near full-strength this Sunday.

Following a sports team (Especially the Broncos) is like riding a roller coaster for the first time. You don't know what to expect. All you can do is ride it out, and enjoy the thrills as they come. Look at the Ravens last year. Their defense wasn't even close to "elite" during the regular season, yet they still took home the Lombardi. We start playing better defense when it really counts, we'll be fine. But it's nothing I'm going to actually worry about.

Last season I remember a bunch of Patriots fans talking about booking their Super Bowl trip if the Patriots earned the #1 playoff seed. Then when the Broncos locked it down these same Pats fans changes their tune to "when was the last time a #1 seed won the Super Bowl?"

We all know how the playoffs went. With that said, would you expect the Broncos to not try to win every game? Would you expect them to not try for that #1 seed because recent top seeded teams don't have a good playoff history? Would you expect them to look at historical stats and dial down the pass offense because of the history of the most prolific passing offenses?

Historical stats are meaningless. All that matters is what is in front. The best a team can Sonia look at historical stats and rind themselves that teams can be upset, or incomplete teams often can't finish.

To this end the Broncos are a pass-first team with an adequate ground game. I expect the ground game is going to become a bigger part of the offense, especially in games with inclement weather. When the Broncos come out in a heavy formation opponents have struggled to stop their run.

Defensively I think too much has been made of their last ranked pass defense. Between being ahead and missing the single best defensive player in the league does make a difference. I think Miller will make a big difference. He'll be noticed against the Colts and Redskins, but I think he is really going to break out after the bye week, just in time for a stretch that includes 3 AFC West opponents in 4 weeks, including the Chiefs twice.

This team has flaws, no doubt about it. But every team has flaws. So far the Broncos have been good enough to survive a 48 point performance by an opponent and a 3 turnover day by the offense and still sit at 6-0. That's pretty impressive.

The Chiefs don't scare me. They're improved but they aren't as good as us. They can't throw the ball, which plays into our strength defensively. And I don't care how good your defense is, the Broncos will find a way to score points. You just aren't going to stop us the whole game. Look at the Jaguars; they won time of possession, forced 3 punts (would have been 4 if not for the fake), and turned us over 3 times, and we still scored 35 points.

Until the Chiefs offense can start scoring some points, they won't scare me.

I know a lot of Chiefs fans are beginning to worry about Alex Smith as their QB, and their offense in general. They're almost begging for the return of Tony Gonzalez via trade.

What effect does that historical statistic actually have on the outcome of games yet to be played?

This was my point in my earlier post.

You know, the last three teams to win the Super Bowl went 10-6, 9-7, 10-6. The Giants in 2011 even had a negative point differential. Are teams supposed to look at this trend and try to win only 10 games? Sooner or later a 14-2 (or better) top-seeded team is going to run over everyone in their way en route to a Super Bowl win. It may as well be this year and it may as well be the Broncos to do it.

Well saw this and as a Patriots fan or a fan from outside of the fan base I wanted to say something.

The Broncos are damn good as you all know. The problem I have seen from them is the pass defense, I think that when Champ Bailey comes back I think it will make the part that much better. He can shut down one side of the field and that is something that you need. The offense is well the offense and it is going to be hard to stop them because well you can only stop them so many times because they will keep on coming after you and that is a scary thought.

Right now the Broncos are easily the best team in the league in my eyes. But they do have some flaws and they are going to have to be looked at but when you are 6-0 a lot of worries go out the window.

Bostonfan,

Part of the reason the pass defense has allowed so many yards is the team is playing with a lead and has gone into a prevent early in several games. I believe the Broncos are now #1 in the league in opponent pass attempts. As Morph pointed out, you really need to look at them on third down to get a more accurate idea of how good they are. They are actually a pretty decent unit and only going to get better.

The pass defense is the most glaring flaw, but getting Champ back was only part of fixing it. The Broncos patchwork front 7 is about to get a major boost when Von Miller returns, and I think that will go a long way toward limiting passing yards against this team.

The other big flaw I see on this team is the turnover ratio, which is 0 right now. Again, I believe getting Von Miller back will go a long way toward getting the Broncos in the plus column in this category, assuming the offense stops turning the ball over too, of course.

True.

When you do have the lead you are going to go into that god awful thing called prevent defense. Like I said though and like you alluded to as well is that when Champ comes back then it will be a little bit better, also Von Miller coming back is huge. The Broncos are getting some key pieces back which is helpful.

Also sometimes it might not matter what the defense does when they can put up 30+ points a game.

Even if we lose to the Colts, it is not the end of the season by any means.

I know there is still a lot of football to play but more than likely, we win the division, worst case scenario, we are the 5th seed wild card if the Chiefs miraculously win the division. (I don't see that happening, just speculating.)

While a perfect season would be icing on the cake, it's Superbowl or bust and if a loss or 2 in the regular season is what this team needs to get motivated then so be it.

Maybe we split games with the Chiefs and lose in Arrowhead. Maybe we stumble on a road trip to NE.

Colts don't scare me after what I saw last night.

Right now the only team that can beat the Broncos is the Broncos by making mistakes.

This is great analysis. Of course the Broncos aren't perfect, but they are darn good.

Like I keep saying, rich people problems. That's what the Broncos have.

Not sure if sarcastic or not.

But yeah the Broncos right now are the team to beat. Even when Jacksonville got points against them to me there was no doubt in my mind that they'd win.

Also the defense has stepped up at times. Look at what happened in Dallas, yeah they gave up a lot of points but when it came down to the end they made a big play to pretty much win the game.

Wasn't sarcastic at all, but I can see how it could have come across that way.

I guess I'm just feeling snarky due to the sky is falling mentality around here, and it's coming across in my posts. Truly, good analysis.

Having an uneasy feeling is the same as the sky is falling? Rather dramatic wouldn't you say?

The uneasy feeling is based on the relative ease the Broncos have won (with the exception of one game) and this being seen before. I have pointed out the facts regarding the most prolific OFFENSES in NFL history not getting it done. I am talking about a defense ranked 29th in the league against shitty offenses. (the notion that the Broncos having such a great offense has little to do with the defense being below average.)

I have to point out some of the potential problems that I see. Of course, as I said this is fun to watch.
