That would be 2021-22. Let's take a look:

JOKIC: 74 games. Nuggets 48-34
27.1ppg, 11rpg, 7.9assist per game, 0.9blocks, 1.5 steals
Player Efficiency Rating: 32.9 (1st)

EMBIID: 68 games. 76ers 51-31
30.6ppg, 11.7rpg, 4.2apg, 1.5blocks, 1.1 steals
Player Efficiency Rating: 31.2 (3rd)

It's a pretty even comparison overall, I don't see how you could say Embiid deserved it over Jokic. Jokic had 19 Triple Doubles and Embiid had 2 (not that those mean everything)... Jokic was just a more dynamic player, the most efficient in the league, and a more available one as well.

Philly had a better record than Denver and as Jokic supporters were told 8 million times by the Embiid stans, Embiid was a plus defender and Jokic was not.

Jokic is definitely a better offensive player and a better player overall. But those 2 years it was a straight up coin flip so it is fitting they each took one home.

As you said, the numbers are very close. It is beyond weak to suggest race played a role in the decision.
